Need wheel opinions fast
 

Ok, I have to make a decision fast or a hot deal on either 17-9/10.5's or 18-9/10's will slip away (both bullitt style wheels). I have an 02' GT that is currently sitting at stock height. I need your opinions on the best look/performance option. The 17s are $100 cheaper & will look way better than stock with the deep dish but I'm not sure they will look good enough. Are the 18's REALLY that much of a performance hog that I would notice and care? In your opinions, are the 18's that much more of an improvement over the 17's visually? How about the brakes? Do they look silly wrapped with the 18's? Please let me hear your thoughts. ALL of them (as they pertain to stangs & wheels...... I 'd love to hear your political views or the debate about large or medium jugs but that is for another forum!). If you feel I missed an aspect of the whole wheel situation, please feel free to speak up! Thanks in advance for all your help!

Get the 17s You'll save a lot on tires. If you'd taken the time to search this forum has several threads in which your questions have already been answered.

either way its a bad choice, bullitts are the most overused rims on mustangs, go with somethin better lookin

I have to agree about the 17's and the price issue. And yes 18's look ridiculous with stock brakes underneath. I've seen Saleens sitting on the lot that had stock mustang brakes and could not believe Cobra sized brakes were an option. That's a lot of cash to look stupid.

I'd get 17's just because the tires are so much cheaper.

I love my 18's. I can't imagine how they would look at stock height though and definitely go with the 17's if money plays a factor in your decision. I'm about to spend $500 on new rear tires.

Thanx for the opinions guys. I am sorry for the post as I was sure it has been discussed over & over. I just didn't have the time to search through all the posts (I tried for a quite a while). Anyway, I have another question.... I have noticed a few people who "seem" to be running stock size wheels up front & 10" in the rear. Has anyone else seen this? I have also heard of some light rubbing issues with 9's up front. Is this of any real concern? Is this why people may have stayed with the stock size up front? I realize this could potentially be a cost savings as well but wondered if 9's up front would look/perform better. THanks again for your help.

A wider tire up front will give you a larger contact patch with the road. This helps in two ways: Better traction when cornering and also better breaking.

The only reason I can think of for people running stock with up front with 10-10.5" wheels in the rear is if they do a lot of drag racing and are trying to keep the weight down up front, but can't afford to get skinnys.

It gives the car an aggresive look that some people like
