Question For the Deep dash

Im thinking of buying 18x10 for the rear of my 2002 Mustang GT i was wondering what tire size i need to get? I want them wide. Also i been reading Forums and i was wondering why people only pick 285/35/18, like why 35? could it be 285/40/18? would there be a problem when i lower the car?

315s and it won't be a problem lowering the car unless you drop it like 3.5''

what about the 35? is it possible to get 315/40/18 without me having any issue? you sure 315's would fit in a 18x10?

The reason for the 35 is that you want to use a tire that is as close as possible to stock tire height so you do not make your speedo off. The wider the tire the lower the sidewall is going to be to keep the height close to the stock tires total height. A 40 side wall would be far to tall for a 285 or wider tire on your car. And I too would use a 315 wide rear tire on a 10" rim. You can run 315/30/18 or a 305/35/18. Both of those are wide and will look good and hook better then a 245mm tire by well a lot.

35 has to do with the height of the side wall.
However, 35 is a ratio, not a height.
So 40% of 285 is 114
And 35% of 315 is 110
So now the ride heigh will be very close.

Does any one has pictures of how 315's/35/18 would look, but by the back, just to see how wide it might look?

I too have 17''s...thought I had 18''s for the longest time until I actually checked the size...and it's a 245 tire so that's why I checked. Last owner put on the rims/tires....

damn Seanstang they look sick!!! love them, aghhh im thinking of going for the 315/35/18. . .what you people think about 305/35/18? big difference???

spike_africa 11-25-2008 08:36 PM

315/30/18 is what you can get in the 315 wide rang and be close to stock tire height. And just depends on if you want to pay the extra money for the extra 10mm of tire. Both are gonna be very wide and look great from behind.

It also depends on what brand of tire you are looking at, and if they make that size. For instance, few manufacturers make 305/30/18, and those that do are most likely the same price or more than 315/30/18, so get more rubber for less!
