im gonna need new tires soon and was wondering what the difference between the htr z, htr z II, htr z III and the all season were?

also my last pair of kuhmo ecstas wore out pretty fast so im looking for something cheap but will last awhile.. if thats not sumitomos do you have any other advice on what to go with?

i know there's some on ebay and i think tire rack carries them as well as many local dealers

i had them on my 96 and will probably get them again on my 04 when the need arises

they look good, ride good, and give good traction wet and dry, and seem to wear pretty good. i got 40,000 out of my previous hankooks before buying these

i don't drive very aggressively so i can't really comment on how they do out on the edge

I have been running on the same set of Sumis for my 3rd summer now! Yeah, I don't drive much - lol

I love 'em though and have the big-ass 315's in the back.

alright well i got like 15-20k out of my kuhmos which i thought was very low.. now i did smoke em everyonce in awhile, and i dont plan on doing that with the new ones but still thats not a lot of miles

I have the HTR ZIII's and have been very pleased with them. They are the highest performance rated tire out of all the HTR tires and have the best tread rating of 300. They have great dry traction and alot of wet traction also. I did an autocross in the rain and was getting better traction than most. I havent driven in cold weather with them, and never will, but they are supposed to be a summer only tire, so I have my stock rims and tires for the cold seasons. I've put about 2000 miles or so on them and haven't noticed much tread wear other than on the outer edges and that is from Atuocross. The Sumitomo HTR ZIII's are about the cheapest tire in its performance category, not a cheap tire, but compared to similar tires it is. They don't have a 305 or 315 though, I'm running a 295 in the rear.

Any other brands of tires that DO carry 315s aside from Nitto...kinda heard some mixed things about them..

I no longer have my stock rims/tires so i'll probably need a set of winter tires...i'm on 17x10 and 17x9s..

i do not like my sumimoto tires cause they track really badly. every crevis (sp?) in the road will trap the tires and pull your car to the other side....yes i understand that i am going to get that with wider tires (275/40 and 315/35) but it shouldnt be that bad. also, i have put about 10000 miles on them and the tire wear is starting to show...they were just as bad as my OEM Goodyears that came on the car stock.

when i had my stock rims on i had Yokohama AVID h4s tires..they were real quite and very smooth. lots of traction for a high performance all season tire. not a bad tread either lol

on my sable, i have Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread and these have been the best tires i have owned on all my car that i have owned. certianly not a performance tire, but it has great traction in snow and rain.

The only time I can break traction on mine is when I accelerate hard on a right turn from a stop.. :D

lol, i can break traction in first and second gear...but then again, i do have a tuned V8 with 4.10s lol

I have blown GT with 4.10's. Wanna talk about breaking tires loose?

For the money....even for an higher priced tire, these are hard to beat.

BTW, you can't compare an AVID all season tire to an all-summer performace tire. The side-walls are entirely different and a lot more stiff. THAT is why you notice that the track the way they do.

I like to peel em going into third... That's also why I've had 3 transmissions :flamed:

I want you guys to try out the HTR Z III's, it's a good tire. Hasn't been out long. I know the HTR I and II probably suck, but the III is one of the best tires I've driven on.

BFG is a good tire, Nitto is a good tire, Pirelli is a good tire. Sumitomo and Kumho are cheap tires. There's usually a sacrifice with cheap tires.

EDIT: Note that I have sumi HTRz II's all the way around right now. Hatin' life.

Well came across a really good deal on new kuhmo all-seasons that i couldnt pass up .. actually ended up with 4 balanced, mounted and put on and an extra 5th tire for 360. I know kuhmos arent the greatest but i couldnt let this deal get away.

Yeah they are cheap tires, but thats becuase the're made in Japan. I have a set of Riken Raptors that are pretty good, but cheap becuase they don't carry the Michelin. We pay for American made (the brand name example was just a side note).

Edit: I wanna be clear that I don't defend the HTR Z I's or II's, I would agree that thoes suck haha.

I've had Riken Raptors, decent tire for street driving but they're still not a BFG KD or a Nitto 555.

My next set of tires will be Nitto's. I also have to buy a set of 17" wheels for autox. Tired of using my expensive fuggin 18's.

Well you're gona be picking up a set of Kuhmo v710s then, best proven tire for AutoX. Or Falken Azenis RT-615 if you want something with some tread.

nope... Nitto NT01 or Hoosier A6. I'm not restricted to any particular tire in my class.
