Nitto 555r DR's?

Thoughts on these?

Not too bad.I'm not a huge fan of them on my car though.I can punch it in 3rd and lose traction.

Other than the stockers they're the only tires I've had so far but I'm a big fan. As long as you don't mind buying a new set every year or so then I'd recommend them. Despite the fact that I may not have enough performance mods to necessitate DR's, between those and the H&R's my car handles and holds the road a million times better than stock. With gears I'd imagine they would be a must have and from what I hear they last better than most DR's.

You do have a modded cobra though:breakdancesmilie:

I sure wish I had that problem.

in cold weather mine break loose at 60 miles an hour. in warmer climates the hold pretty good at high speeds. when i punch it at 60 you can see the rail road tracks in the mirror. the next set will be radials.

If it were up to me, and I wanted DR's, I would only get BFG's if I wanted to use them on the street.

Other than that, I'd spend some decent money on radials and would come close to traction of the Nitto 555r's on the street.

A friend of mine has the Nitto's and they are pretty decent, last a heck of alot longer than the BFG's and MT's. Nitto's dont hook near as good as the BFG or MT thats for sure. I've got the BFG's and my boy and i can launch at the same RPM and we both have the same mods and he wont dare launch on the bottle since his Nitto's dont hook like a BFG will.

IMO go with a BFG or MT for a drag radial unless your gonna be driving everyday on them then get a Nitto due to the life they have.

If they are going on a track wheel, I'd get some MT ET Streets. For a DD I have had both and the BFG were leaps and bounds about the Nitto, on the road and the track. Takes forever in a day to heat the nitto to where it will catch. BUT this is because the BFG is a softer compound which means it will not last as long. So you need to try and come up with a happy medium on what you're looking for and go from thier. Also, too much hook on stock axles it not a good thing.

for a daily driver nitto drags are awsome. If your not going to daily drive on them get something else. I use nittos for every day driving and they are great for that.

I just got 315s for my deep dishers and I love them.........I power shift on every gear and they do nothing but grab!! I think the tread is the coolest looking of them all!!

flyinfox 11-26-2006 07:29 AM

if you have a street car they are awsome but if you have a drag car get some nasty M/T ET Streets thats what i have they hook nasty and tere your rear end and clutch out ,Love them
