Kumho ecsta asx vs sumitomo htr z II

I live in oklahoma where we see hardly any snow at all and nothing extremely cold. Buying new tires with winter coming up which ones would be best suit for me? Are the sumitomos really that bad in cold weather? Thanks

I have the Sumitomos but im In Az. No compaints in wet driving and you cant complain about the price either!

I have Sumotomo HRZ and put em on my car near the end of last winter.

one day i was driving, made a left turn and spun the car damn near 360 degrees. The roads were dry, but it was about 20 degrees out.

Sumitomo are TERRIBLE in the snow, and equally bad with dry pavement at real low temps.

I had the Kumho's on my last GT and hated them....I thought the ride comfort was horrible....They weren't all that sticky either.

The ASX is an all season tire and would be way better then the sumi in cold or in the snow.

If you want a good, all-season tire, lo0k at the Continenal. I think it is called an "Extreme Sport Contact" or something like that. I have heard nice things about it.

Thing is, if you have stang that makes much mor power then stock, these all-season tires will just have a hard time cutting it for hard use.

I put the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX's on my car not too long ago. I love them. They have GREAT wet traction and I am very fond of the ride quality and the overall performance of the tire.

i had the asx kumho's on my stock rims. they were great got the job done in the rain and light snow. weird looking tread but i liked them. they are pretty cheap too.

Had the Sumi's on my GT all last winter with no real problem's.

I've had both on the old GT, I'm on my second set of sumitomos now on the cobra. Live in Indiana but don't drive it in the winter. Its seems ok in the cold,or cool anyway. I have drove the GT when it was in the upper 30's.

Those sumis are made with summer compound. They are not meant to be used in the cold PERIOD. Below about 50 degrees you will start to notice it, then below 30 it is like driving on ice.

Looks like there are a lot of opinions out there.....

I drive my stang in the winter too sometimes.....you know a nice coold, clear, dry day I may take it out. I have 315 sumis and 4.10's. The traction reduction is noticeable, but not dangerous. If this was my DD and I lived in a cold weather climate I would definately get something else.

Yokohama avid H4s are by far the best all season tire i think...they grip extremely well and have a nice ride to them...

here is a vid of me dropping the clutch and then WOT...they wouldnt break loose thru first at all...im the first mustang that goes

pirelli pzero neros are probably THE best all season tire you can get. sticky in the summer, and pretty damn good in the cold season too and great in the rain.

I LOVE my ASX's. They grip like crazy on the front, I have Sumitomos on the rear in 315, and if Khumo made an ASX in 315, id buy those over the Sumi's anyday of the week.
