Wheel&Tire Question...

I am wanting to put the bullit deep dish rims on my 89 coupe, but I worry on what size of tire to put in the back.

My plan is to go 17x8's in the front and the 17x10.5, but I can't find anyone that has these rims on a foxbodied Mustang. Will a 275 40 be to small for the rim??

I just want the best fitment with the least amount of hassle's trying to me make them fit, but I don't want have to put a tire on there that's to small for the rim...

thanks...

a 275 is not gonna fit on there. I would just get 17x8 for the front and 17x9's for the back and run 245/45/17 or 255/45/17 on the front and a 275/40/17 out back. As fas as i can remember you cant run anything bigger then a 275 out back without doing some "body" mods to make them fit.

That's what I want to run in the front but, I want to be able to run the deep dish rim tho...

I guess my question is what would I have to do to run a deep dish rim in the rear...

I found these pics on Mustangtuning's customer ride page...

The owner of the red hatch stated that he's running goodyear f1 275 40 on the rear's so i don't know...

How can a 275 fit on a 10.5" rim? are those fox body specific rims?

Summit says for a tire of 275 40, you can run the smallest rim of 9" wide and the widest rim can be 11". So I am guessing that I can run that tire then-I am cool with just rollin' the fenders...

He's on the money...I have a 93 (five lug conv) and ran stock 245/45/17s all the way around, you could go 255 in front but may get some rubbing at full turn if you are too low. I put 275 out back and had almost zero room for any more. I've seen a few with 285 and larger but think they removed quad shock and rolled the fender lip. Do it spikes' way..will look great and be safe. 245 front, 275/40 rear.

What's the best fit?

Okay, so i have 18's on my ride... running 275/35/18 on the rear. I am a bit tired of the tucked in look so i bought spacers from MT; however, they don't fit with my FR500's... so I was thinking of getting the DD FR500 and dropping on 315/35/18 to add some girth. Any idea of this mix will work?

Why don't the spacers work? And yes that mix will work, most people run that in 18" at least the ones I've seen. I would have but I rotate my tires so went with 275/35/18 all around. Not a lot of tires in 315/35/18 tho.

I couldn't get the FR500 rims to fit over the spacers lugs... now i just need to find new tread as my tires don't come in 315/x/18 grr!

Thanks for the note, i'll check out the deep dish rims then.

As in the bolt pattern is not the same? I'm going to order a set as well is why I ask. I may just get longer studs and unstudded spacers, Steeda makes a few upto 1". You'll find a few tire in the 295 range but 315/18 are $$$$$$.

Shaker242 06-12-2006 07:15 AM

the bolt pattern is fine, but the studs rub the inside of the rim too much. I could eff with it and make it work, but i'd rather just take an easier route.

So what do I do about replacing the quad shocks??

if yo have aftermarket lower control arms you dont need them and they can be thrown away for good.

So if I don't currently have lower control arms then, obviously once I buy them I slap em on, and then toss the quad shocks...
