2004 V6 suspension recommendations and questions

Alright everybody, I have 2004 v6 3.9L and i think its time for me to install new suspension. Ive owned the car since about 36K miles and its now at 107K. Unfortunately i have not changed the suspension at all since ive owned it and im feeling the horrible ride. i want to install new stuff obviously, so here is what i want to know.

1.What parts would i need to make everything work right? Plates, bars, springs, shocks, struts? im not sure. i feel at this point everything might be worn down.

2. i want to see if i can possibly lower it.

3. im not looking to go all out racing crazy, just a better ride than stock and lower maybe 1 to 1.5 inches. i would prefer a ride that isnt wicked stiff ( my year mustang stock looks like a friggen 4 wheeler)

4. what would you recommend? i have maybe around 600 to 800$ to spend. not sure if thats nearly enough.

any recommendations or links to kits would be greatly appreciated. this would by my first suspension swap that i would do. and i need all the help i can get. Im not exactly stupid when i comes to cars, but im no ford tech.

Thanks for the feedback!

The best bet is the the Ford Racing suspension package. Not sure if FRPP makes it still, but if you get your hands on one, it includes everything except bushings basically (shocks, struts, springs & sway bars) and lowers a reasonable amount (3/4"). I got mine for ~$500, shipped. However, you should also replace everything that has rubber, as it's probably seen better days at this point (control arm bushings, strut bushings, shock bushings, spring isolators, etc.). You don't necessarily need to replace the alignment plates (the FRPP kit is the stock pieces on the Bullitt/Mach 1) but it is a good investment. Same goes for the rear control arms. But again, if it's budget, replacing the bushings is sufficient (just remember, keep poly bushings away from the rear, as well as the struts and shocks).
