MM Sub Frame Conectors

2 Attachment(s)
Started installing them today, got one side done and will finish the other side tomorrow. Learned something today, my ass is too old to be sliding around under the car. Old people should be given lifts instead of social security:D

krazypony 07-07-2009 10:24 AM

looks pretty good!

WNRacing 07-07-2009 10:30 AM

Much nicer than the welds on mine, that's for sure! I need to get under the car and re-do them, because Modular Power House did not do a very good job on these things..

01FR500 07-07-2009 02:11 PM

Damn, those welds put the ones on my SFCs to shame. The work under the car will be worth it.

bassman97 07-07-2009 03:01 PM

If only I could weld... Looking good.

TUFF 4.6 07-07-2009 08:42 PM

Got the passenger side done today. Everything looks good, I am going to paint the underside of the car and reroute nitrous line and battery cables. Thanks for the comments.

Question, has anyone ever used that roll on bed liner or do you think it would be worth the effort to do the underside with it? Thanks Bubba

Pilks 07-21-2009 10:24 AM

How does the car feel now that there both on ?

r3dn3ck 07-21-2009 10:41 AM

the bedliner stuff is killer. spray paint always chips off and ends up letting the steel rust.

Kyanbi 07-21-2009 03:17 PM

Bedlinning the undercarriage? Never heard of such a thing.. but sounds like a good idea!

The car feels alot tighter, its hard to explain but it was worth the effort. I just brushed some Rustolem on them for the time being until I can figure out which way to go. Thanks for the comments Bubba

I see from your pictures you used blocks under your jack stands
Im looking over the instructions for mine (which should be installed tomorrow)
and it says to not use jackstands, obviously it can be done

Thanks

The subframe connectors should be installed with the weight of the car on the wheels. If you position the stands on the axle and A-arms then it's basicly the same thing. Not sure if that is what was done here, but that's how you should do it without a drive-on lift.

Pilks 07-30-2009 06:09 PM

I just talked to the person installing them tomorrow, he said basically the same thing.

"If you only have jackstands at your disposal, you jack up to load the suspension, rather than where you would normally on the jacking rails. So in your case we will get it up in the air, then one jack under each side of the rear axle, and one jack under each front lower control arm. This will put the car's weight on the springs and suspension just like it would be on the road."

TUFF 4.6 07-30-2009 06:40 PM

I did have the load on the tires and tacked the rails in place. I didnt have eought room to finish welding them in because I have a big belly. I raised the car up some more to get my big ass under there. My jack wouldnt go up far eought to get more blocks under the tires.

The car should be rested on all four tires when the conectors are weled in, you are correct. Sorry if I misled anyone. I took the picture at the wrong time.

Got mine in, car feels great

We did a few launches and the car felt great

great mod!

spike_africa 08-04-2009 04:04 PM

Yeah its hard to describe how the car feels afterwords. My car just felt tighter and the car generally just handled better.

TUFF 4.6 08-08-2009 08:27 PM

Something else Ive noticed as I drive it more, is that the car doesnt tend to roll as much when you get off a ramp or sharp corners. All the little noises are gone from the car. I would've never imagined that the body flexed that much.

01FR500 08-09-2009 07:07 AM

The Mustang uni-body flexes more than anyone would ever imagine. When you start stiffening it up you start to realize just how much. I describe it as a floppy pancake, or the 5th spring in the suspension. I would like to weld in atleast a 4pt cage just to stiffen the body some more.

i really need to get on top of that and get mine installed...they have been sitting in a box in my basement for the last 2 years....

spike_africa 08-10-2009 06:00 AM

I've had a Diablosport programmer sitting in my room for a couple of years now. But it's married to my old car.
