clunk in rear passenger suspension

I had my car in for a clunking sound it was making in the right rear and the guy said that the rubber bushing in the trunk was way too tight and was squished. Also he said that my spring moves around a little bit because it is aftermarket which was causing the clunk...

Can the shock being too tight cause a clunk sound? Is it ruined now? The guy didn't fix any of it so I'm still stuck with this noise that is extremely annoying, any suggestions?

thanks.

I had a cluck like noise when ever i went over any kind of bumps, i had bad shocks from running bullitt springs with no Isolators for awhile, once i replaced the shocks/struts noise went away. But when exactly does the noise happen?

I've only had two clunks in my car. One was my passed out drunk ass friend. The other was his head bouncing off the windows as I made turns. :D

But that probably doesn't help you much. :p

I don't see how there is any way that the spring is moving around and causing the sound. The partial weight of the car is pusing down on the spring, it's wedged between the ground and car. The back end of your car would have to be off the ground, at least, for it to move. Maybe I'm wrong but the spring moving and causing the sound doesn't sound plausable. The shock nut being too tight and squishing the bushing doesn't sound like it could be the reason either, unless it's so squished that the nut is on the metal below the bushing. Are they rubber or poly? Maybe the Mach1 shock have had enough, not something I know about.

it happens every time I accelerate. It feels like the suspension slides back a little, then when I brake I can feel it clunk back forward.

Could be your control arm bushings.

That's what I had thought but I think the guy I took it to checked those. I'm taking it to an actual Mustang performance shop on Friday so hopefully he can figure this stuff out.
