What shocks/struts?

I picked up a set of steeda sports springs cheap locally. Now I'm looking for a descent set of shocks/struts without breaking the bank. I don't drag race and I don't take tight turns at 80 mph. I just want a descent set that will not be a harsh ride on my daily driver.

Would the Tokico Premium Performance shocks/struts suit my fancy? At Maximum Motosports they list them at $326.21.

Any non adjustable lower end shock/strut from tokio, KYB, etc... will do you just fine.

I read somewhere that we should use fox body tokico HP's if we have lowering springs. What is the point of this?

It gives back a 1/2" of bump travel to 94-04 cars. The 79-93 struts (only struts matter here, shocks used should be the correct listed # for your car) are 1/2" shorter so the strut shaft will be 1/2" less far down in the tube at ride height. It's a good thing... just make sure you use the correct rear shocks for your year and model.

Tokico HP's or a take-off set of 03 cobra fronts bilsteins and mach 1 rears (or a full set of takeoff mach1 dampers) should do you great.

Cool, I appreciate the explanation! I can't wait to get rid of the 4x4 look.

How many miles on your car?

If you could find a set of FRPP Tokico Bullit struts and shocks, they should suit you great. With a little bit of shopping, I bet you could find a set for under $200 brand new. I got mine with the springs and sway bars for $300 a few years back.

yeah.. the Bullit kit and the Mach1 kit are really great for guys that don't race or corner carve much. If you just want better than 4x4 and a really super cost effective solution that'd be the way to go. It's Ford engineered so you know it's right for the car.

leave the spring isolators out of the front and back and you'll be as low as you'd want and handle and ride really nicely.

Just remember to drive it up to the limits of the setup, not past them.

27000 miles...

Yeah I've been keeping my eye out for the bullitt or mach 1 tokicos...the cheapest I've been able to find brand new are around $300. I'm not in a huge hurry to get them so I'm going to continue looking around for a while. I'd be stoked to get a set for around $200!

After looking around I found a good deal on a set of the tokico HP's with the fox style struts. Picked them up for $290 shipped they should be here tuesday!
