H&R Limited edition springs

i orderd them online from H&R's website, but never had the money till now to get the rest of the set up including shocks/struts/(caster/camber)/ ...so what shocks will work best with these springs...oh and they are yellow.

Depending on how many miles are on your Stang, the stock shock's and strut's would be fine for awhile.

Bilistien's would be the best choice if your going to replace them and you might not need CC plates depending on how low the drop is.

What is the rate of the springs? Without knowing that there's no way to say what will be a good damper.

See the sticky in the suspension forum for a quick tutorial on picking shocks to match your springs. If you still have questions, let us know.

To be honest im not sure, however i think they said the limited edition springs are inbetween the H&R Super Sport's and the Race Springs so im guessing maybe like 700-750 front ....or similar to the supersport rates...

tockio's? im not a racer just want a sweet handling ride

You've got WAAAAAY too much spring there. Sell em and get some sports or super sport at most. 700 is not a street spring...it's a bit more than that really.

AGX are c r a p. Tokico Illumina set pretty high or Koni Yellow or a little bit stiffer than the 03 cobra Bilsteins (MM Sport Spec would be great) are what you'd need to properly dampen those springs. Again, I recommend heavily against using them for a street car. Race tracks don't have potholes... streets do.

thanks for the info...

I think i am going to go with the MM bilstiens you recomend. My mustang is not my daily driver, i am in college most of the yeah and really i just take it out for a blast when i am bored.

be ready for a pretty damned firm ride. Avoid places where the potholes are big.

Alright i ran into another problem.

I notice on MM website the tockio illumas come in two diffrent types (ones for stock suspension, and ones for lowerd mustangs).

i can not afford the shocks on MM, however on ebay i can $445.

will these shocks on ebay work? what is the diffrence between the ones for lowerd mustangs and ones for stock stangs?

r3dn3ck 12-31-2006 08:24 AM

the ones for lowered mustangs are actually Fox body (79-93) struts. MM and I recommend using fox body struts on lowered 94-04 cars because they're a half inch shorter and that gives back a half inch of bump travel.

If you want the ones off ebay and you want to stick with the stuff MM likes, just get the 79-93 set instead of the 94-04 set. Cars with giant rims like 19" and up would actually want the 99-04 set so you don't have the fender liner get punched out of the car on a hard bounce. Instead the strut will bounce off the bumpstop.

You're welcome.
