The benefits of coil-over strike again.
 

I've been having a problem with speedbumps lately. The city I live in has been erecting these 4ft wide x 8in tall speed bumps all over creation and I've been getting more and more scraping on my suspension and exhaust so I finally broke down and adjusted my ride height to something more streetable.

Maximum motorsports bilstein coil over systems adorn both the front and rear of the car so I just jacked up the car one side at a time crawled underneath and spun the adjuster collars up about a half inch.

Verified front and rear were at equal ride height (measured from the bottom of the sill panel to the ground) and done. Including taking out my floor jack and measuring the whole thing twice it took 10 minutes to adjust all 4 corners. Damn I'm good.

Ride quality is improved a little now that all the rake is out of the stance but I don't think it looks nearly as good with the front up that extra half inch.

So, the moral of the story is: If you spend the right money in the right places, you buy yourself flexibility rather than pidgeon-hole-ing yourself into a setup that may or may not continue to serve your needs.

Im thinking of coilovers on my car. How is the ride quality on them? And what spring weight did you go with?

ride quality is far superior at any usable spring rate to conventional stock type.

I use 350's up front and 300's in the back but, I've also got all the MM goodies in there too. For the average joe, 300 is more than enough in front and 250 is more than enough in the rear unless a torque arm is in the mix. My suspension is on the very edge of streetability and it's still quite comfortable most of the time. Little bumps are more exciting and noisy than BIG ones so you kinda get used to things having changed.

Only MM coil over kits have shown me the kind of engineering quality and fit/finish that I expect. I only advocate MM for CO's for that reason.

I have 375's up front..no CO's in the back...:(

gotta get those rears in... it makes as much of a difference as the fronts.

375 though... damn. I have a set sitting in the garage waiting for my 5.4L to go in (to support the added weight) but 350's are pretty stout for me right now. Though we do have some of the worst roads in the country right here so too much spring is easy to determine.

I have to agree with this. I installed Maximum Motorsports Coil Overs as well and the car handles so much better that stock. I went 350's in the front and 255's in the rear. Car rides nice on the streets and handle awesome at the track and being able to adjusting the ride height is a huge plus!
