ANOTHER REASON CALIFORNIA SUCKS
Anti-War Activists Call For End To Annual Blue Angel Show SAN FRANCISCO -- Anti-war activists are calling on city officials to bring an end to the annual Fleet Week flyover by the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels. CodePink, Global Exchange and Veterans for Peace are working with Supervisor Chris Daly on a resolution that calls for stopping the popular air show, a San Francisco tradition that began more than 25 years ago. Daly said he may introduce a resolution as early as next week that calls for permanently halting the flyovers because "they seem dangerous and unnecessary." The resolution would state the Board of Supervisors' position, but would not be legally binding. The Blue Angels, a team of navy fighter pilots, perform high-speed maneuvers over San Francisco during Fleet Week, which is scheduled for October this year. CodePink has launched an online petition, signed by more than 500 people to date, calling on city officials to stop the air show for reasons of public safety, air pollution and fuel waste. ------------ **** California! :t: :t: :t: :t: |

well, San Francisco is like another planet.....While Cali is somewhat liberal, SF is off the charts. They are way out there so please don't lump all of Cali in with SF....it's a HUGE state and that city only represents about 800,000 people.
I hope they don't do this because I've gone to fleet week the past few years and it's AMAZING to see the jets flying around the Golden Gate Bridge and it's even more amazing to see the ships come under the Golden Gate into the Bay. I can't imagine there is anywhere in the US that can produce a background that beautiful for an air/sea show |
They won't cancel the show. And I suppose California is the only state that has protestors? Come on, just cause some jackasses are protesting in California doesn't mean this state sucks. Why don't you post other states and countries where protesting is going on all the time.

Been to california many times and lived there for about four years. Thing is, it ain't what it used to be. All the reasons why people used to flock there are now diluted by all the challenges.
The place is soo dam expensive. Most people can't even relate. Everything costs more. Housing prices are insane. You really need to earn about $150 - $200k to live they way most people would like, or you got lucky and happened to buy your house 15 years ago and still live in it. I have a family member who was just offered a job in San Diego. As part of the offer, they will loan him $1M for a mortgage at 4.5% fixed rate. He figures his property taxes and mortgage will be around $7500 a month. AND, do you know what a $1M buys you in SD? Not a whole lot. It is cheaper then SF and LA, but you still are not exactly high on the hog. You would have to make over $100k gross per year, just to have enough net income to cover the mortgage on a quite average house. Then, you need to add utilities. Considering banks want to see a mortgage not be more then 36% of your gross, you need to make over $300k. |
it depends what part of SD your buying in. You can buy a crappy 1 mil house in at the beach. or you could go a little bit inland and get a SWEET house for a mil

True, sort of.....you can always go inland, then sit in traffic and the hurrendous heat in the summer. You can live isn places like Temecula, but the schools are not good and the quality of people there is sinking.
Sorry to sound so rough, but I am just being honest. I used to live in La Mesa you know where im talking about? anyway.... TEMECULA, that place SUCKS!!!!! HOTTER than hell and soooo far away from everything dont even know how they call that SD. |
