but yeah.. no matter what, in this whole car business as soon as someone finds out a parent bought your car you're screwed. A guy I know locally has a c5 corvette that his dad bought for him.. whenever he's talking **** with everyone they ALWAYS hit on the "daddy bought vette" comment. This is just common I guess.

You're right. In high school this douche had a 70 chevelle big block, custom paint wheels, interior, fast as hell and in show quality. His dad built the car and gave it to him and yes a lot of the comments we made to him were out of jealousy, but he had the cockiest attitude about it. Just b/c his family had $, he'd talk **** on all of us trying to fix up our cars on $6.00/hr. Another kids dad restored a slcik 69 camaro and gave it to him. He ran it into a ditch once and annihilated a mailbox another time. I know if I ever have kids I would love to share the automotive hobby with them but I assure you no car will be handed to them. When I was 12, my dad had me helping mowing lawns to save up for a car and when I was 15, I wrote a check for my Iroc, $5,300. ( and I took damn good care of it) He basically said I wouldn't get any chicks in high school on a huffy. So basically what I have seen from people that have had their cars given to them, they tear em up and don't respect what they have b/c they didn't have to earn it.

thats basically my parents thinking too except they want me in a more modern car for safety, so i got s swag deal and only paid for like 2/3 :)

You guys are missing whats being said here. Its perfectly fine to recieve a gift and be gratefull for it. But when you take your gift and dont take care of it and tell everybodys that theirs is ugly or sucks, its a different story.

You know, people nee dot sopt making fun of people for having cars they did not buy. That is just life. Some people are born with more. It's how much you are given if life, but what you have when you die that matters.

Hell, if we make fun of Jon 'cuz his Mom bought his car, what about everyone around here that has a loan? What about peolel that are in debt up to their ass on a nice car and a car with a crappy one that owns it?

This site is always better when we leave this stuff out of conversation and just stick with things that matter like mods, 1/4 miles times, and seeing csledd in a dress.

to reiterate what mattj said...it's having a car given to you and thinking you rock and everyone else sucks. Regardless of what you're given, you need to respect others and how hard theyve had to work for their stuff. Someone like rebelyell has a family, wife, kids, house, etc and mods his car rarely, but that doesn't make anyone here better than him because he's cool about everything.

dude i had a almost $40,000 car when i turned 16. ive got nothing against it. i was just wonderin the same thing, how did this thread turn into what it has. what you said about the 400hp made perfect sence to me.

My parents went through 4 cars, including various BMW's, Volvo's, and **** when we went car shopping, could my dad drop 40 g's on a brand new beautiful car, yeah he could, would i really be responsible and understand what it is to earn something helllllll no...we test drive a GT right after we bought my car and for a month i begged to trade my car in...(this GT was modded felt like 300 + hp) newho... I think the point is that Matt and Danny are saying is that some people have worked harder for their things then others. And it's anoying to hear people trash talk others for no reason but to boost their own self confidence...whats the point of putting someone down?

oh please...I've never crashed because of too much hp...both times were on dirt and ice, one at about 20 mph and one at about 5...the first one was stupid yeah...but on the ice there was nothing I could do about it, it was down hill on ICE

sure, i did it back home, i know alot other guyz do too... My car is my DD too, but I also bought it knowing i'd be either in FL in the winter, or be on a ship doing a 6 week tour...aka car in garage...
