I have a Stock '00 GT (auto) with only a CAI and suspension , this is my Daily and I put about 45 miles a day but I am looking to make my car a little faster and I would also like some more HP ....

Right now I have about 1G in my pocket that I been saving for the longest so what do you guys suggest ???

4.10s.

I have a 2k GT 4R70W as well. It will DEFINITELY wake up your ride. The only "downside" is your cruise rpm go up a "lot" at 55 I'm tachin' 2k at 65 2.5k at 75 2.75k. I don't really care, I love 'em.

I've also got SLP LM1 CatBack and it's not really that loud or drony at cruise in my opinion. I can listen to the radio or hold a conversation with no problem.

Gears and install kit will run around 200-300 and install will vary between 200-400. So you're looking at a good investment.

I would also recommend your preferred tuner for speedometer calibration and transmission performance.
SCT/ Diablosport/ etc... which will run around 350 depending on where ya get it. (I have Diablosport)

Also, if you're mechanically inclined, I would recommend the "Jmod" and a tranny cooler, which happens to be my next project.

with those three mods you'll definitely feel the difference in your auto and be very pleased.

It' s a transmission modification that was engineered by the guy who engineered the 4r70w transmission.

Basically you drill holes in parts of your transmission in certain parts at certain diameters and it helps the transmission shift firmer and better and stronger and more durable (assuming proper maintenance and a tranny cooler are used)

i have a shift kit and a trans cooler...same effect as j-mod?? The whole process seems a little out of my ability. Didnt even know what i was looking at in the pictures

nope. The way shift kits do it is different and supposedly harder on the transmission. But the tranny cooler always helps...

 

I have a HUGE tranny coooler and just ordered the separator plates will be here tomorrow... Now I just have to check my drill bit collection and git r dun...

 

+1 for gears and a tune. And the 4.10s are awesome, but if you wanna drop the cruise RPM a bit, there's always 3.91s.

 

Gears,you have to do the gears. I put 3.73's in my old GT,it was an auto. I have 4.10's in the cobra and can say 4.10's are the way to go. I just did a 450 mile trip tuesday in the cobra and got 23.4 MPG. I'm still not sure how,but it did. Running 70 to 75 most of the time,it tachs 2650 at 70. An auto will be more.I'd guess around 2900 at 70. So,if you are on the freeway alot 3.73's maybe more to your likeing.

 

i agree, if you on the highway more get the 3.73. I have the 4.10's but dont do much highway driving, and even if im on the highway i set the cruise to 65 and rpms stay around 2500. If you get the 4.10 just dont be racing on the highway and you'll be fine.

 

not too fond of 4.10s...i think 3.73s are an all around better choice...especially for a daily driver

 

I dunno... I drive 4.10s around 40 miles per day (at least) and I love them. Around town or cruizn da highway, no complaints.

I know it sounds cliche but "Don't Fear the Gear!"

 

I would venture to say that anyone not recommending 4.10's has never had them. I thought that 4.10s would be way too much, until I got them and now I wish I would have gotten more, but I city drive.

 

i've got 3.73's, i like them. but i'd also recommend the 4.10's. anything is better then stock.
