now, this is a lot of assumptions, but i dont know anyone who makes a lot of money and goes to school unless they have already established themselves and are simply furthering a career, but by the age of 21 there has not been much time to establish that level of financial stability or earning power where it is feasable to afford a 30k car, education, rent, bills, etc etc all at the same time unless the vehicle is a lease, in which it is stupid to do any modifications to it cause it is basically a rental.
so while it can be done, i would say 90% of the time it turns out the car was a gift from mommy and daddy.
Thats one of the reasons i dont care too much about other people having faster cars than me, especially those 18-22 yr old trash talking import lovers. Cause while thier car might be a bit faster than mine, i know that i earned and appreciate every single penny that -I- paid for my car, and chances are mommy and daddy bought thiers and they probably dont appreciate it for ****.
so im not trying to rag on all 20-22 year olds, but most people that age are still figuring out what they want to do and dont have the earning power on thier own to afford such a car.
i guess a lot of it depends on the deal they got
hell, most of my co workers i figure make over 50k a year, and most still arent comfortable buying a 30k car.

honestly, it takes nothing to get a new evo into the mid 12s. you can make your own boost controler, get a cotton air filter, and remove the cats and you have a significant increase in power.
not only that, but they can launch pretty sick being an AWD vehicle.
good luck...
