Default Freinds 03 Auto GT 1/4 mile time

My freinds car is a mostly stock 03 GT auto just has nasty x-pipe and slp catback with magnaflow muffer and a filter got ti down to a 14.1@99 mph but sadly track prep was pure crap as it went from doing 2.12 60' to constant 2.2's.

I was pretty surprized considering its a pretty stock auto car. It has plenty of mph to go high 13's but the track prep wasnt there to get it to the ground it would spining the first 2-5 feet after the first hot run and the 60's never came back. There was a manual of the same year same mods and was only a tenth faster...... how sad.

ohh the memories....

there was a time when i only had a cat-back, CAI, and 70mm TB and the car would go 13.6 at 101. i had that good air in maryland.

yeah he really isnt into much like me he just wants a mid 13sec car he can drive every day. Its gonna get a set of 4.10's, j-mod,i allready added a cooler and a tune and we should see mid 13's with it and thats all he wants. But i will update everyone on it once we go to the track again and try to hit 13's the way it sits.

My 1999 GT (Auto Trans) ran a 14.3 Stock with only a flowmaster cat back.

Wow... my fat *** car with a system in the trunk went constant a 14.3@98 mph. AND it had a mid-pipe, cat-back, 3.73 gear, accufab and JLT.

Then got it tuned with long tubes, cams and other junk... and went 13.3.

Then put 100 shot on it... and went 12.3.

hehe

1/10th faster is equivalent to 10 hp which is the percentage of drivetrain loss (5%) from stick to auto. Not to mention a stick will launch harder in a stock application, not everyone is as great of a driver I am, and im sure the stick had just as bad of traction issues if not worse, as the auto friend. what do you expect from a stick to auto with similar mods.... half a second? lol doesnt work like that. not to mention the stick will never be consistant as the auto. i know i can range .4 in times when im at the track.

stick should be much faster considering the gearing and the ability to launch at a good rpm. SO yes i expect alot more then a tenth. Plus the fact that my car which has more weigth was alot faster with the same mods considering mine went 13.71 with just cai,h-pipe, mufflers, nittos. Yes im not impressed with that car at all.
