Default Stripe Selector

My brother had posted this a while back so I thought I would bring it back to help some of you. You dont have to be safe and get black or silver there are many other colors to chose from. 94-04 should stay with an 8in with pins and 05 up 10in. I have up my stang with 8in other members feel free to post your stripes. Enjoy

Hey Venom - Can you provide some specs on your stripes? I've got a Black 94 GT Conv that I want to stripe, but with gold vice silver (interior's tan). I know the 94's have 8", but how about the pins, and the distances between stripes and distance from stripes to pins. BTW - where's you find the info on the stripes?

I used blue painters tape 1/2 to do the spacing inbetween the 8in stipes. The pinstripes I just eyeballed it. The most important thing is to make sure that when you lay down the painters tape that its centered take your time and you could do each panel one day at a time. Dont rush and use lots of the solution mixture if you mess up just unpeel it add some more of the water alchohol and soap mixture redo it but make sure paint is smooth with no dirt you may want to clay bar it before adding stripes. When its on right dont be afraid to use a hairdryer to shape the curves and help dry the stripes just dont get it to hot or you will melt it or it will stretch out the vinly which is good when going around curves but bad when going straight.

I know this thread is old as ****, but i'm thinking about doing the rallystripes.com 8" pin stripe thing. Any ideas on color? I was thinking dark blue, i'd need matching bumper inserts.

I would not do vinly stripes if you live in a hot climate and car is directly in sunlight alot. I have removed the stripes because they were showing signs of deterioration. It was extremely hard to remove the glue and for me It would not be worth doing it a 2nd time as they only lasted 2years. Granted I live in Florida but 2 years is not enough. For me getting them painted is what Im going to do but have put it off since car is not done yet.

Jack also had the same issue so its not if this will happen but when. To me it seems like its an issue with the quality of film more than anything else. Im not sure if the quality of stripe that rallystripe.com uses but I would want to use something thicker with some UV protection. I would ask how many years the film lasts and if it has UV protection.

+1, they were a pain in the **** to get off. I was about 3/4 done when i had the brilliant idea of yanking off the vinyl, then putting paper towels on the residue then soaking that with 3m adhesive remover, then covering it with saran wrap and letting it sit of 15 min. The residue turned into a fluffy jelly and wiped right off.

even knowing that in retrspect it would have still taken 6-7 hours to get them all off at LEAST.

Vinyl Stripes FTL.

then again... rallystripes is what, 40 bucks a kit?

as long as you take car of them you should get a few years outta them

I don't really live in a hot climate. New Jersey, haha. 2 years in Florida probably means 5 years here, and i don't think i'll have the car in a year or so. (looking to upgrade in about a year). I just wanted to spruce **** up. Make it a little unique.

you know it would be cool, if someone could design a program that would let you

select the year of mustang
the wheels
the spoiler
the sidescoops
hood scoops
stripes
hoods
sideskirts
and other accessories

and then the image would be rendered to your specificications, so that you could actually see a computer model concept of what your car would look like when it was all done.

I would add stripes after the car has been lowered and a chin spoiler or another more aggresive front bumper thats lower than stock plus wheels. Racing stripes dont look right on the a stang, well that doesnt look like a race car. I dont see that you have lowered your car.

The chin spoiler should be in today. I'll be lowering it soon, probably within the next couple months.

dude just be a nerd like me. to design car with any stripes or designs and any colors:

A) Buy xbox 360
B) Buy midnight club 4 LA
C) Unlock mustangs they have 3 styles/year types
D) Design car with paint, viynl, wheel editor
E) Take pictures of screen
F) Take to a painter then viola, instant awesomeness lol and all parts in game are REAL parts unless otherwise noted so whatever wheels you find that you like your guaranteed they actually exist.

Nice, ya my bro has an xbox game that has an 03 on it i believe its like pro street or like pgr idk but its kinda kewl. I need to get my hood repainted but idk how much that would cost me. unless there is a rock chip repair that is inexpensive.

300-500 is reasonable for a good hood job, but if its just little chips you can go to like a World Paint and get auto detail paint

Wish they had other years to pick from, not just the GT 500 body style.

Always thought over the years it would kewl for someone to design a program that would have like a db with a variety of rims, decal schemes, and paint colors. And you would just pick your year mustang and then add the other options you would like to see on your screen and you could view it in a 360degree view if you like to get a real feel for the concept.

Now that would be kewl!

The pin-striped mustang really reminds me of that Elmore Leonard novel. Nice paint job. Incredibly precise.
