Default used mustang, mystery mods?

so i bought my mustang used from a dealership a few months ago. its a v6 and the previous owner obviously upgraded it to a dual exhaust. now my question is when it comes to the gears, is there really any easy way, short of opening up the rear end, to tell if the gears have been changed?

ive been reading some stuff about 'gear whine' in the 40-50mph range and have noticed it a little bit in my car.

The higher the number of the gear ratio, the more times your driveshaft will rotate per wheel rotation. 3.73 gears will rotate your driveshaft 3.73 times per one full turn of the wheel, and 4.10 gears will rotate a tad over 4 times per turn of the wheel. jack your car up and mark off with white chalk and start counting.

Do you have an auto or manual?

If you have an auto (and the v6 auto shifting is the same as the GT's) than your shift points should be the same as mine (or others with stock gearing).

For the auto you should hit top of 1st around 47mph, 2nd 79mph, 3rd somewhere in the 110s but you shouldnt be doing that at WOT I've been told.

too many variables that will throw that off. go do my way and youll know for a fact on what gears you have instead of taking a guess by some random speed test.

Yes those are with an auto and stock 3.27 gears. hop on the highway and gun it, at WOT you should change into 3rd around 79 mph. As long as you have stock size rims and stock size tires, I don't know much that can affect it. Say you do have 4.10s, you would prolly hit 3rd at WOT around 65 (just a guess). I've had 2 auto mustangs and both changed gears at the exact same point.
