I am looking for opinions on these.
Ford Racing shortie stainless steel headers
I am looking at them used to match up with a catted bassani x-pipe and single chambered racing Flowmasters coming out of 3.5 inch tips. I am about to do a PI head swap and want to change the headers with a quick inexpensive replacement when I do the swap. I found some really cheap!

They wont give you much power. But if all you care about is a cheap replacement, then go ahead.

 

yea through all the header posts ive searched ive heard shorties arent worth it performance wise, longtubes is that way to go

 

Shorties arent worth it unless you get them + install cheap. I got mine for 200 shipped overnight brand new + 200 install for headers and midpipe. I really had no plans to do them but i found the deal and jumped.

 

That's where I am. I can get the headers that are barely used for $100. I think that is a great deal. As far as install. I haven't priced that.

If you dont have a mechanic that will do them for a decent price, dont bother. Personally, I wouldnt spend more than 400 for everything + install on shorties, because the gains arent really worth it. You lose down low and gain minimal up top.

 

Well that settles it. I am staying stock and just going with the catted x-pipe.
Thanks for the input. When I do my pi head swap I will pick up plenty of high end. I don't want to lose my low end by doing something unecessary(headers). I was pleased with my power before the swap so I am sure I will be ecstatic with the results of the swap. I just figured I might as well do all of the airflow since I have done a cat-back, a CAI, and am doing x-pipe, and of course the PI intake manifold.

mac makes great shorty equal length headers...

equal lengths make more power then regular shorties and are easy to install on your own...

and if you plan to buy longtubes in the futere... then wait on the x pipe because you will need a new one to work with the LTS
