Scratches on Stangs

I have a 2002 Mineral Grey Gt and its in great condition except for some scratches here and there. I think on the whole car there are about 6 or so. Most are fairly light, but there are 2 scratches that look like were caused by someone who keyed it before i bought it. Im wondering what you guys suggest to get rid of these scratches besides taking it to a shop. I already heard of one quote where they said they would have to do it by the panel and it would cost about 125 bucks per panel!!! Suggestions would be great!!!

That sucks...I came out of work a few months ago to find 2 fat scratches about 2 inches long through the paint. I was ****ing pissed.

ANy suggestions on how to get them fixed?

Can you post some pics of the scratches. I am a detailer and can help you with em.

Unfortuantely I dont have a digital camera  , although I probably could borrow one. He did say that if u can't run your finger nail through the scratch and you finger gets caught in the scratch, its a bitch to fix. Im really only worried about two that seemed to be keyed since they are white and pretty deep. I did buy this lotion stuff that did get some of the real light scratches off, but didn't do much for the bigger scratches. Any cheap way of getting these scratches out??

Yes that is correct. Use your finger nail and if it catches on the scrtch then it is to deep then.

So is it true then that the only way to fix it would be to get it done by each panel of the car? Like i would have to get the whole passenger side door fixed??

youd have to sand the paint down in the area, fill the scratch, and blend the paint so it matches. after youd have to wet sand, and buff the area.

Sounds expensive, any idea of the price range?

MattJ 10-30-2005 09:43 PM

depends on each vehicle. if you have a body shop do it, its going to cost you everything youve got. if you have someone side-job it for you, its going to be expensive, but a hell of a lot less. I work for a dealership and i had a quote to sand down, repaint, fill my front bumper, fix a long paint chip on the lip of my front left fender, and some other basic touch up from chips for 400 bucks because hed have to blend.
