Got bored,,started painting. DUW,,lots of pics
Seeing as how my sister in law just moved in with the wife and Wade Jr (along w/her two kids) on a temporary basis I figured since Im losing my house I might as well go play in the garage. Just for giggles I had the upper bead blasted after removing everything from it brought it home for painting. I also pulled the valve covers and decided to paint those as well.
I used Dupli-Color auto paint that you can buy at Wally World and it probably isn't meant for high heat. We'll see what happens. The color is Ford Currant Red and is the closest is could get to Laser Red. Let me know what you think,,good or bad. http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/761/img01686bm.jpg http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/985/img01670va.jpg http://img286.imageshack.us/img286/2594/img01726be.jpg |

I think it looks great.

looks pretty good man. nice color to.

Looks real good but I bet the engine heat will smoke the paint in a hurry.

I think the paint is more for touch up/exterior, but I figured "what the hey."
It ran for quite some time while getting all the air out of the radiator and I didnt see any ill effects. We'll see, but I think you are right,,it will get real hot and come apart soon. No worries tho, I'm getting some 1.7RR this Friday and when I get the money for the intake it will all be coming apart again. Had to put it back together due to track night coming up on the 12th and there are a couple people wanting a piece of me again. Killed a 99 Cobra last time, but he has since installed gears and I think he's gonna get me. |
Look nice but if I had any doubt that the paint would come off, I would not do it. It seems like it would be harder the second go around trying to get all the old paint off.
When I was younger I used to paint stuff on my 4-wheeler engine and it would burn off in a heart beat and stink like hell. Maybe you will luck out. |
Well, about an hour of driving was put on it tonight and no ill effects so far. Even blasted up to 100 just to get some heat in the motor,,I could smell it, but no problems yet.

you should send it to get chromed out instead
|
