Exhaust or Springs?

Pretty low on money, but I have enough to do one of the following: exhaust or springs. It looks like a freakin jeep on those stock springs, but I've really been wanting the exhaust for a while. Just wanting your oppinions, or any other suggestions of what I could do to make it look better for summer.

Heres what I was thinking...

Lowering:
H&R Super Sport Springs, Maximum Motorsport's C/C Plates

or

Exhaust: Custom H pipe, and Mac Catback. Already have bbk shorty headers since my manifold cracked last month. GT rear bumper.

Suggestions?

I was gonna say Exhaust because I'd rather have my car sound nicer (well loud) then having it look nice because it's lowered. Since you have a V6 I'd probably go with the Suspension.
I on the other hand haven't lowered my car, but that's mainly because the exhaust needs to be fix properly before I lower it, otherwise I will hit way worse then what I do now.

Yea, I was leaning towards suspension. If I did get the exhaust, it was gonna be ordered from mac, and with an H pipe. I've seen that setup on youtube, and thought it sounded pretty good. Not rice at all. But that wheel gap... man... lol

Yeah I hear ya on that, but mine has never bothered me and I have no idea why. My car hits going to a lot of places where I go, whether I go slow or fast, angle or straight, still hits. The reasoning for that is because the exhaust doesn't sit up tight againest the Cross Member. The exhaust at the headers or where it comes off needs to be cut. :/ Once my exhaust is fixed I might lower it, I already have a nice exhaust setup that came with the car when I bought it. Even though I might need new tips or some how repair the ones I have.
I'm actually going to make some videos of my exhaust, because I'm either going to gut/remove the baffles out of the muffers or completely remove them. My car is already over the sound limit and I don't have cats. haha

Lower it first! Then worry about exhaust.

krenogin 05-18-2010 08:31 PM

Springs... Exhaust wont help much but probably make it sound worse.. Put a chambered muffler in place of the stock one ( i used a flowmaster 40 ) and thats all to do to your exhaust and it will liven it up alot! You will love it! And its 100 dollars or cheaper for that. Then get your springs!

The more I think about it, the more I lean towards springs first. I just wish I could get rid of that ugle pipe hangin down until I get the new exhaust. I don't think the MAC catback would make it sound bad... I've listened to tons of youtube videos, and mac doesn't sound too loud or ricy in any of them.

But yea... gonna get some shocks/struts when I lower from AM.

X Pipes - Raspy
H Pipes - Deeper Sound

and I don't hit Speed Bumps as my car sits now, but if I was to lower it I would.

Yea I was gonna get the shop here to just make a custom H pipe for the mac catback if I order it. But I'll probly get springs first. Plus, I'm not going dual unless I get the gt rear bumper.

Suspension and if money is tight just weld in some Rustmaster 40s.

01FR500 05-19-2010 08:08 AM

My vote goes to springs.

krazypony 05-19-2010 08:54 AM

Springs would be best first, and then get the exhaust sound you are looking for.

I had a MAC Exhaust on a 2000 v6 and it sounded pretty good, just beware there tips seem to rust out and you will need to have them replaced at some point.

Shadow_Stang 05-19-2010 10:16 AM

Thanks everyone. I'll make sure to post some before and after pics after shes lowered. Then worry bout exhaust.

Cut off the tip just above the bumper for now. The limp dick tips that come on the 6ers look awful.

Dude, I've seriously been wanting to do that. What tool would I use?

hotshot13422 05-19-2010 11:56 AM

I"ve got both and they're both awesome. If you're going to have pipes out the back, get a gt bumper. Cut v6 bumpers look ugly as hell. If you don't want to change bumpers get your exhaust dumped. It sounds better dumped anyway

Yea man, I'm definetly getting a gt bumper first. Gotta save up for it though.

Hacksaw.

rkaz 05-20-2010 07:40 PM

I vote springs as well. The cheap springs are just as good, but make sure the cc plates are MM.

Yea man, definetly getting MM plates with my super sport springs. Do I really have to get new spring isolaters? My car has 70K miles on it... but it would save me like 60 bucks not having to get new ones.

rkaz 05-21-2010 06:19 AM

You don't have to, but I think they keep the ride quieter. Their are guys that don't have iso's at all on their car.

SeanStang 05-21-2010 10:45 AM

Im not running any ISO's. I just wrapped some electrical tape around the top and base of the spring so there was no metal on metal contact to help prevent any possible noises. I didn't notice any noises after the install.

3.8LMustang 05-21-2010 01:06 PM

lower it :)

hotshot13422 05-21-2010 04:44 PM

I'm just using stock iso's with my pro-kit, no problems

Deathdiesel 05-21-2010 07:19 PM

I have eibach pro kit springs with isos, and i do wish it sat a tiny bit lower honestly, but im glad i went with isos. The ride is much smoother and you can seriously tell the polyurethane isos are much better than stockers. And yeah i never thought about cutting my limp dick exhaust off lol...

Yea, I decided I'm not getting isos with the springs. I'm going with H&R super sports in a few days, with the MM caster/camber plates. Just gotta wait on a buddy of mine to pay me back 100 bucks I loaned him for a tatoo. haha

Any suggestions on shocks/struts? I know this isn't the suspension thread, but just thought I'd ask.

Deathdiesel 05-21-2010 09:12 PM

Yea, dont use american muscles directions, they had me spend 5 hours on one spring. Try these, http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...edaspring1.htm

Thanks man, I can't wait to get rid of that wheel gap. My chin spoiler is gonna hate me though... 4 speed bumps in my neighborhood. lol

SeanStang 05-21-2010 10:06 PM

You'll love the stance super sports without iso's give. I went Tokico Illuminas and love the way it rides. Very comfortable for how low it is.

Would it be worth it to go ahead and get some J&M lower control arms while I'm switching out springs? It's only a daily driver, and I noticed you didn't list any for your car on your sig? Just curious.
