2003 Floorpan Problems
 

Ok so i looked all over and wasnt positive where i should place this thread...anyways In my car on the passenger side backseat floor I have a bad leak...See my floors are fine in the summer when there is no water falling from the sky, but when it rains I have a puddle in my back floor pan on the passenger side..now I already know it has nothing to do with my windows because there is no trace of the water coming from there it. It starts as just a spot of water and then gets bigger and bigger until I swear you could almost swim in it..metaphorically speaking.. and I have looked under my car where it is wet inside and cant find any hole or anything..although the underside of my car is still semi wet in some places it doesnt make sense as to how it would be leaking into my car...

what if you get some undercoating spray, and spray it around where that bolt is showing in the last picture.

It only happens when it rains or even when its dry out?

my car does the same thing. I just thought it was because the bolts didnt have any kind of sealing on them to prevent the water from getting in.

Wait for the water to dry up and put RTV around the bolts.

It only get wet on the inside when it rains and I am driving. so some how when im driving the water must be getting in through somewhere.. I will look at the bolt and what not better when the chance comes.

actually...i think you have a leak at your rear side window. That's the easiest place to get water infiltration to the rear floorboards. Check the seam sealant on the floorpan joints.

I'd pull the interior out of the rear and get inside with doors closed and windows up, find a homie with a hose and have him shower the car from every angle while you stay inside it and figure out where your water leak is.

I'll bet you a dollar it's not because of the bolt going through the floorpan unless you park IN a puddle all the way up to your door in water.

I would have to agree, that's not coming through a bolthole in the floor.

Have you pulled out your back seat to see if there's water under it as well?

Water almost never goes up.. I guarantee you have a problem either with the seal around the rear qtr window or possibly even a dried up / cracked gromet that seals the C-pillar in. I had both of those problems after I put my Mach 1 C-pillars and glass in.

Ok guys like I clearly explained, It's not from my window...I can let my car sit for days on in in the pouring rain and nothing....its ONLY when I drive it.

and FYI water does go up when forced...AKA Wheels turn and throw water everywhere!

If im driving in big puddles and lots of water everywhere...guess what it IS possible..

Welp, with an attitude like that, don't expect much help from anyone here. Simple logic says that water has a much harder time going up rather than down, thus it would be much more likely to have a leak near the top of the car, especially for that much water to be on the floor. Also, you said nothing about being able to let the car sit in the rain for days with no leaks.

I have no idea how you could possibly get water there and only there. Is it wet on the front passenger side, or under the seat too? What about under the rear seat?

You don't think it's your window and it might not be but it could also be a door seal or any number of other seals, including side scoops. So how about losing the I-know-for-sure-what-it-can't-be attitude and just do what the experts ask. Once we are SURE you're not WRONG we'll be able to get farther. If you do like I said and remove the interior panels and inspect behind them in all the nooks anc crannies I bet you'll find more water.

FWIW, we could use better pics. Jack the car up and take a wider shot of the underside. Then also show us the condition of door seals and side and rear window seals.

since my car has the same issue...I blamed my water leak issues on the repair to the passenger rear subframe. My car had an accident where the rear sub box was damaged and the body shop repaired it. Since then I noticed that water builds up in the rear of the passenger seat. I have done my own test on the windows with a high pressure hose held a 12-18" away from the windows and other seams. NO LEAKS or water built up on my floor pan.

My water issues only happen in heavy rain fall and when I'm driving. My temporary fix was buying another car and not driving the stang in the rain.

that one's easy. You've got a gap in the seam sealant or a crack.

ok My apologies to everyone for the rudeness, I am only trying to explain that there is NO leaks in my door or my windows known for a fact because if it were coming from the door or window there would be some kind of sign such as water damage to my interior other than my floor board.

see the water (when driven) if my floors are dry to start with..the water starts as a small spot near the center of the carpet and eventually fills just the floor board..the water isnt on the wall of the floor under the seat so i dont see how that could be it either.

so the only thing that would make sense is somehow the water is getting through either the bolt...or some how there is a small hole somewhere under my car...

Im not POSITIVE but pretty sure my car has been in a wreck on the passenger side b4. but unsure.
