start engine button

Okay i know this is a pointless add on to my car but i want a start engine button.I have a 2000 V6 and ive seen start engine buttons for 2005+ but wondered if i could make one myslef. My friend got a new button for his S2000 and said i could have his stock one. Would it be hardto wire? How much money do you think?

Yes, you can wire one up yourself but you're still going to have to turn the key to the ON position before pushing the button.

Wiring wise they are not to bad. If you look on the AM.com website for the 05+ they have some instructions for it and its pretty much the same thing you will have to do for your car.

Here is one in a 04 v6

Ok, seriously... That's cool as shit! Totally pointless and in no way of any productive use, but seriously kick ass! I wonder if they just used the same one available on AM.. Hmm. Any idea Dustin?

They just got the Honda S2000 start button and wired it up. Its pretty simple to do. You basically just fallow the steps for the 05+ one. You setup the button and then wire it so that when the key is in the on position you have to press the button to complete the circuit rather then push the key all the way forward to send power to the starter. So just like the 05+ kits you would need to cut that wire and instead have it go through the starter button.

Oh yeah. I think I remember seeing that on 3.8mustang a while back. It looks really clean the way he did it. It almost looks oem. I probably wouldn't do it since you have to put the key in anyway so you might as well turn it all the way but it's cool none the less.

You could always buy one at the Ford dealership as well. Just ask for the one off the GT.

the start button thing isn't something i every got into...IMO it's pointless to put the key in, turn it, then press a button. if ya have to use the key anyways, might as well turn the car on by it. just my opinion...
