What do yall use to wash your car? I had a microfiber mitt but it's time for something new. Should I get a new mitt or something else?

So far I am leaning towards "The Bone" unless someone says the seasponge is worth the money.

I say natural sea sponge or the ulti mitt. My friend has a natural sea sponge and leaves it in water after he gets done using it and it's lasted him life forever. Plus it holds water like a whale. Kinda cool too...

The only problem is how much more it costs....

I use something like the blue one with the wierd lookin tails, and it has had no problems, its just a bit torn up now cuz of usages. Btw i just bought some SHAM-WOWS and they said its good for your car, anyone know if its bad for your paint?

They soak up the water well, but DON'T drag them across the paint. They are not microfiber so the dirt can't get pulled off the paint into the fibers.

So like just use it as a mop or what? What i do is spray car off, scrub with something like that blue shammy thing(i dont think its microfiber either), then spray car off and dry with either a towel drying shammy or a SHAM-WOW

Set is on the water and let it soak it up. More of a blotting type process.

I prefer the microfiber mitts over a sea spong, but thats just me. I know many people like the whole sea spong deal, but its not for me.

I've heard that sham-wows aren't really that great for drying cars. They just smear the water without soaking it all up. I really like the Mr. Clean spottless car wash(with water filter and soap). You can buy at walmart for under $20. It filters out the minerals in the water so the car dries pretty much spotless. Just wash and let air dry or wash and go for a ride to dry quicker. When I use this, my car looks like its been waxed!

How long did your spottless car wash last? My friend's broke after about 10 washes.

I use the two-bucket method with a microfiber sponge. The mitts don't stay on my hand.

I would never put a Sham-Wow anywhere near my car. The texture alone on those things screams 'I WILL GIVE YOU GIGANTIC SWIRL MARKS BIGGER THAN OPRAH'S ASS!!!'

And in regards to the title; I only clicked on this because I was like 'what the hell is a spong?' :D

So what is the best things to use to keep from getting swirls when you dry you car??? I see the microfiber stuff is the best to use to wash or maybe a sea sponge

I've had it for about 2 years with no problems. Don't really know how many washes I've done, but a lot more than 10. Their "spray gun" is pretty cheapo and has a bad wash spray. I like the fine, filtered mist though, for the final wash. If/when mine breaks I'll just buy another kit.

Use plush microfiber mitts.

I've had mine forever and it does perfectly fine. You just have to take care of it, no slamming it on the ground or just dropping it. I always put mine in the bucket with all the other stuff and bring it inside. My buddies dry-rotted outside in the sun and it quit working, so it's just a matter of use. Mine looks amazing everytime I wash it though.

People tell me nice wax job, when I never use wax.......lol.

From a professional detailer, use a wool mitt or microfiber mitt. Do not use something rough. It will move around the dirt and creat swirls before it moves the dirt.

I have used the Mr. Clean spray gun for a couple of years now. I use Meguiars Gold class soap in it, would never use the crap ass Mr. clean soap/shit. I use a wool mitt and the two bucket method. So with all that, I have a bucket of soapy water (Mequiars gold class) and a bucket of just water, a wool mitt on one hand and the Mr. Clean sprayer filled with Mequiars soap in the other. I spray the car with water, spray the mitt, srapy the car with soap, spray the mitt with soap, dip the mit in the super soapy bucket, then wash an area of the car. Then I will spray the mitt with water to clean it off, dunk it in the water bucket, then repeat the soap steps and clean another section of the car, after I spray the soap off the car.

I have had one Mr. Clean sprayer break and it was because I had left it outside when it dropped below freezing. I think the water left in it expanded and destroyed the seals so it leaked water like a 9 month prego. The filters that make the spotless water stuff actually work well, but I use a waffle weave micro fiber towel so I don't even buy the filters for the sprayer.
