Fiberglass?

How much do any of you guys know about fiberglass hoods?

I have a friend who's extremely good at body work doing it for me because I've never touched the stuff until now. We've run into a lot of problems with it so far, it seems rather thin in some areas and you can actually flex it by pressing on it, not to mention a lot of gouge marks that go through the gel coat and chipping all around the edges. I'm actually a little afraid of putting as much money into it as I am and having the thing fall apart on me a year down the road.

The hood came from Cervini and they are kind of going back on what they told me before I got the hood. They promised no materials would have to be added to the hood in any way before painting and thats very far from the truth. One of the guys told me to "block out" cracks on the corners of the hood... I'd like to know how you block out a crack without bondo =D(yes I know you cannot put bondo on fiberglass, you have to fill with fiberglass)

Anyway I'm not here to bash Cervini, I've never really heard a bad thing about them ever and can't really find any complaints about them on the net, I figure I just happen to get a bad hood that slipped through QC. Anyone have much experience with working on aftermarket fiberhoods that could tell me a little more? My friend doing the work says all non-OEM fiberglass parts are crap but, I think his opinion may be slightly biased =)
