Need some opinions on paint color

I have a 96 laser red and I got into a little fender bender the other day. Driverside fender was damaged and side of front bumper was scuffed up. Looking around for paint and wanted to know what everyone thought about candy apple red. Is this more of a girls color? My mom has a dark candy apple and I love the color. What about a regular candy apple. The paints I was looking at that was the closest thing I saw to a laser red. I can get my whole car painted for around 400 if I do all the prep work and supply the paint. But I'm worried my mustang would look to girly that color. I can get laser red but I would be paying a lot more. Is it better to just buy the smaller portion of laser red and just get the fender and bumper painted. My paint is in decent shape but it's still 13 years old so it has some aging and chips here and there.

I thoght about black or midnight blue but I'm not sure if the door panels and engine bay are included for the price I would get.

I can almost guarantee that it will not include the engine bay and the back sides of most of your panels. Getting both sides painted is only really a big deal if one side doesn't have paint on it(for example a new/aftermarket panel), you should at least leave the old color on the inside, this is what stops the rust from forming, make sure you leave no exposed metal ever unless you live in an area where rust isn't an issue.

400 does seem rather low... even if you did the prep work, does it even come with a coat of clear? Personally I always go for 3 coats of clear but I always put a lot of time into my body work.

Also remember candies are really hard to spray, after you get them out of the booth I'd say at least 80% of the time you'll find a flaw in the paint and have to respray it. What area are you in? I can suggest some people if you are in the midwest area.

As for Red being a girly color, thats really up to you, sometimes when they fade they look a little pink, but a good wax every now and then will stop that.

well i figured it wasn't because he said if i prepped and all he had to do was tape and paint it would run that price. that's why i was looking for something around the same color so it would not be so obvious.

and red i am not worried about being a girly color thats what i got now, its candy apple red that i am not sure about.

Yeah on cheaper paint jobs they mix the clear in with the paint and I'm not sure how that works, or sometimes no clear at all.

Personally I go for 3 coats of clear, its as many coats as you can put on without sanding it down more to put on additional coats, sometimes you can get 4 to stick so I hear but I've never really tried, had some awesome painter friends tell me about doing it before. Although I'm sure you can't really tell the different between them.
