side scoop inserts

so i have v6 side scoops on my sixer and the inserts aren't really black anymore, they have kinda grayed out and actually have some sort of white junk on there that looks like bird crap but wont wash off. i've got some black trim paint in the garage, what do yall think about painting the inserts black again?

by the way im just assuming they were originally black and not intended to be kinda gray

I've spray painted mine black again. It looked great! The only problem is if you leave your car out in the sun all day like mine, after about 3-4 months, they faded again.

yeah that sucks, but at the moment im able to get it in the garage about half the time

can you wax them after you paint?

edit:how do you get them out?

I have no idea about waxing em. Getting them out is no sweat though. Take a small flathead screwdriver and wrap a thin cloth around it so you don't scratch your car and just pry it out. They just have little snap on snap off tabs.

No problem.

when you paint them spray a clear coat on them too. that should help keep some of the fading down.
