Alpine deck Vs Ipod Touch
So my wife left her 30gig Ipod Video in her car and it got jacked.
However, they did not take the Ipod Ready Alpine deck. (dont know model number but i can get it) Anywho, i bought my wife an 8 gig Ipod Touch (shit those things are fucking slick man. Slick) and she got it in the mail today and everything works just fine, then wee try to set it up in the car and it does not work. The cable fits, the ipod says it will not charge with the cable, and the Alpine does not recognize the Ipod. :noooo: :wtf: now, when looking at a replacement Ipod i was informed that the 4th gen ipods do not work with the "Ipod ready" cables. that we would have to buy a new cable for the Apline deck. I found no such information about the Ipod Touches so i figured it was cool. Of course, it is not working. apparently there are 2 cables with the alpine decks, the 420i and 422I. the deck is a year and a half old, maybe got it early 2007. i think it has the 420I cable. Before i go out and blow 30-40 bucks on a fuggin cable, has anyone had any experience with this problem or know anyone else with experience with this issue? i googled around a bit, but i figure it would be easier to get to the bottom of the issue if this was a widespread issue with incompatible cables? |
weird would think it would have worked my iphone works with all the preexisting connectors. Did you try calling apple? there tech support is usually pretty good. Not sure if it would be considered an apple or alpine issue though. BTW told you the ipod touch would be worth the extra money :D

to call that thing an MP3 player would be doing it a grave misjustice. i have heard however that the touch DOES work with the 422I cable, but so far i havent seen any confirmation it works with the 420I cable, just some vague reports of there being a compatability issue. |
