Detailing cars at a dealership

I was looking at a ranger for a buddy today and got to talking to the salesman about detailing, I asked him what they generally pay people to detail and he said about 60$ a car for a decent detail, I'm guessing that's washing/waxing/trim/windows/interior. He asked me if I had any experience and I told him I had a small not-yet licensed business and he seemed somewhat intrigued, gave me his card and # and told me to call him and he'd get me the dealership manager's contact info. Anyone think I could pull this off? I could wash/wax/etc and do a decent interior cleaning of a car in about 2 hours, and if that's what they pay 60$ for that's not too bad, he also said they pay around $15-20 to wash the cars..but it is a big dealership and there's always a catch. This is World Ford by the way. Should I give them a call and see what happens? lol

He also tried to get me to buy this

Nice car but 17k is kinda steep for 04 GT.

Yeah - I just paid under $17,000 for my 2006 Mustang. That's high for that 04 Mustang.

As far as the detailing.. worth a shot or more information. In MA most of the companies charge upwards of $300 to detail a car. So if they pay $60 to the person doing it then they'll be making a sweet profit. Not sure how it is around you....

Yeah when I do a full detail I'll usually make around $150-180 on a car, but I'm pretty sure the dealership isn't expecting anyone to use polishers on the cars. I only charge 50$ for wash/clay/wax so I'm interested in know what exactly they have done to the cars for $60. I'm only 18 so I don't mind making atleast $15/hr..usually when I do jobs for privately owned cars I get around $20-25/hr, I just don't get to do it very often so if I can get a job at a dealer making stable income I'd be set.

I really like that color though. Next on my list after black. But yeah... unless that car was treated like a show car...17k is quite a bit. Should of asked him for a straight up trade lol

Yeah.. Gray is a sweet color....

Worth a shot with the detailing then..

I worked at a ford dealership detailin used cars last summer and prolly will this summer as well. I got paid $9 an hour working 40 hour weeks. I liked the job you were always doing something. But some of those used cars that came in were disgusting inside.
