HID help!!
Im looking into getting a HID kit. Not sure of what grade to go with though. Since all kits are the same price.... wouldn't i be best off going with the 10000k since its the highest or 8000k:dunno:. what have you guys had expierence with? would you get the same again?
looking at getting them here: http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-HID...-com-s/252.htm or is there a better place to get them? |
get em from AM, they are even having a sale on em :D $250 + you can use a discount code if you have it. http://www.americanmuscle.com/hid-du...-kit-9007.html

I dont have any experience wiht them... but the color temperature is inverse of the light output. so... 10000K(Kelvin) will have a lower light output than 8000K.
I have seen alot of cars get an amazing light output and great style with anything between 6000K-8000K. I had a friend recommend mydepots.com for a HID kit. He used their kits on 2 of his cars.:2cents: |
Like he said the number really represents the color output of the light. To actully get better lighting and not have ricer blue headlights 6k would be the max i would go. 5k would be a better more pure white light. 8 and 10k is retarded.
|
ah alright. so the lower the number the brighter it actually is. i was thinking it the other way around. thanks guys.
|
anything over 8K is just rice :D
The number has nothing to do with how bright it is its the temperature of the bulb. The lower the temperature the whiter it is. 8K is white with a blue tint and then 10k is more purpleish blue and 12k is just purple |
The lower the number the whiter is it to a point, then it turns yellow.
|
3k turns yellow. friend has a civic with them. HUGE ricer.....tried to make him buy an old c4 vette but no...hes a dumbass.
but thye pretty bright though |
thanks for the info guys. ill most likely be going with the 8000k kit from AM. cause its got the dual beems unlike the kit from stangmods.
|
FYI that 8k kit is going to be super super ricer blue.
Here is the color options that are out there. starting at 4300,6000,8000,10000,12000 As you can see the higher the number the less white and less lumes you get which means less actual light that will help you see at night. http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/justplaza/hid_4.jpg |
thanks for the warning spike. i know this is a really dumb question, but can headlights be illegally too bright?
|
no but just be sure after you install them you realign (lower) the aim of the headlights so you don't blind everyone on the road
|
you can get tickets for them being to blue.
