want it shiny!

ok, whats a few products i can pickup to clean tires/rims and wash car and make it shiny and stuff. i was thinking something to wash it with then polish then wax?

There are SOO many options out there. What kindo of shape is the pain in now? What kind of a budget do you have?

IMO, the biggest bang for the buck would be to buy any Car Wash that you want. Then invest in some decent, micro-fiber towels. If you are young and on a budget, just stick with the Target brand towels or somethign like that.

Then invest in either Maguires or Mothers three stage system. You need to wash the cas, then use the paint cleaner (stage 1), polish (stage 2), and finally the wax (stage 3). You can also use a clay bar if you want too before the stage 1. Plan on spending about $75 for everything including tire cleaner.

It will take quite a few hours.

Otherwise, juts get some Maguires NXT which will be easier and cheaper.

Like Water asked, how much are you willing to spend and how good do you want the car to look. Theres only so much you'll be able to do.

V6_Mustang_Power 01-12-2008 08:16 AM

i can spend up to $200 and i want my car to look great.

03gtmustang 01-12-2008 08:36 AM

Heres what I can sell you.

Brand new Pinnacle XMT polish (#1- 4)- http://autogeek.net/xmt.html
Brand new Lake Country 5.5" CCS Orange pads (2)- http://autogeek.net/ccs-5-5inch-foam-buffing-pads.html
3/4 bottle left DP Interior Protectant- http://autogeek.net/dp380.html
3/ 4 bottle left DP Wheel Glaze- http://autogeek.net/dp-wheel-glaze.html
3/4 bottle left 4* Leather conditioner 64 oz. bottle- http://autogeek.net/four-star-leather-conditioner.html
Brand new Chemical Guys Natural Shine 1 gal.- http://www.chemicalguys.com/Natural_..._p/tvd_101.htm

Ill also throw in some DP Xtreme foam shampoo- http://autogeek.net/foam-gun-soap.html

Then you'll have to buy some more pads, a Porte Cable, microfiber, wax or sealant, window cleaner, interior cleaner, wheel cleaner, etc.

You can also buy a kit, but those run $250 plus and dont include all that much. http://autogeek.net/pocapobuki.html

I take it that you decide against using all of the stuff you sell, right 03? lol

03gtmustang 01-13-2008 06:34 PM

I dont use that stuff anymore because Ive found stuff I like better. But that also means its more expensive.

The XMT polish is very popular with beginners. Its easy to use and there isnt really a learning curve with it. Its not a picky polish.

The Lake Country pads are my favorite pads, only brand Ill use. I just dont need anymore of that size pad.

The DP interior protectant is alright. It smells very nice and leaves a very nice matte finish. Ive just found something that suits my needs better.

The 4* conditioner is also pretty good and popular. However, I now offer two different leather treatments. One is a leather cleaner and conditioner that I use on leather thats in good condition. The other is a 3 step leather revitalizer and MUCH more expensive.

The CG Natural Shine is a very versatile product and its cheap. It can be used on interior and exterior surfaces. But again, Ive found something else that I like better.

The DP Xtreme foam is a great soap. Produces lots of suds and provides good amounts of lubricity. It also smells really good.

If I buy something and I think its complete crap, then it gets put in the trash can. I wouldn't sell it to someone. These are all good products that I used for a long time. Im constantly researching and trying new things. So Ive just found more expensive alternatives which I like better.

Take it to a professional, and let him do all the work. (waxing, polishing) Then when it gets dirty, wash it with a car wash you can get anywhere, and dry it with microfiber towels. Easy.

Have you used Pinnacle Souveran (paste or liquid) yet, 03?

or XMT 360/180

I'm thinking of picking up 1 or all of those next AG order.

I love using Turtle Wax Ice after I wash my car man that stuff is awesome. Just check out the pics. I use after ever wash, just spray and wipe then buff. It normally takes me about fifthteen minutes to do the whole car. No bad for seven dollars.

Ive used all of those except for 180. I wouldnt bother spending lots of money on a wax unless you're able to correct the finish right. Its a waste of money to spend that much on a wax only to put it on paint that isnt in at least 95% corrected.

Liquid Souveran is very easy to use. I didnt care for it too much though.

XMT 360 hides way too much. I dont use AIO's on paint.

Thats what i'm talking about. Take to a pro, get it waxed. Do ur home work, find reputable place.

This thread will never die!

King 11-08-2008 03:05 PM

I think we need to give warnings to noobs who revive the dead thread. Do a three strikes deal...If it's over a month old, don't revive it. Or if we could setup an automatic close thing? I don't know how possible that is, but maybe setup a system where after 31 days a thread automatically gets closed. Then the whole reviving thing wouldn't happen.

Steeda97 11-08-2008 08:42 PM

I love when old threads are born again.

Well V6MP still shadows the forums, so I bet he'd come back pretty fast.
