Well my sound system is finally complete! After 4 weeks, 1 DOA amp used from ebay, 1 DOA used Sirius Tuner, pulling the head unit out 500 times, it's finally alive.

The JL Audio 500.1 amp I got used off of ebay was bad, will have the results of the dispute decision from paypal on Saturday. hopefully I get my $231 back.

The first Sirius Satellite Tuner I got was bad, but I got a refund on it, and bought a second one which worked just fine.

Today I was installing my EQ waiting on UPS to deliver my amp. Took the head unit out, and took a dremel and had to widen the storage compartment opening on the dash kit 1/8" on each side to allow room for the amp. then i realized my EQ was really deep, and my dremel wasn't going to get very deep into the storage compartment on the dash kit, so i took a disc cutter and hooked it to the air hose & compressor and cut the storage compartment off. used a bench grinder to remove the excess plastic trim. then after widening the opening enough, i took a file and smoothed all the edges, and the EQ fit in there perfectly.

here's where i had to get creative..since i cut the storage compartment off the dash kit, i placed 3 folded up paper towels between the EQ and the head unit (head unit on top, EQ on bottom, then took some packing tape and wrapped it around both to hold the EQ in place (cheesy, but i couldn't think of anything else to do, and i also made sure not to cover any ventilation holes).

wired the eq to the speakers, then cut the speakers wires going to the head unit since the EQ now has control over them, and the head unit sends signal via RCA to the EQ. taped off the wires, then hooked everything back up, and reconnected the battery to do a test. With the exception of the ground loop noise, this shit pounds like a motherf'er!!!

I ordered a second ground loop isolator to install between the radio and the EQ...already have one between the amp and the EQ, but wasn't anticipating getting an EQ until I realized I would need one to fine tune the sound to my car...cause the Pioneer just wasn't good enough to do it the way I wanted.

UPS showed up around 1:45. After the head unit and amp were done, i screwed the amp to the back of my box, hooked all the wires up (with battery disconnected of course), turned the gains and everything all the way down so I dont blow anything. made sure all connections were made, and that they were solid. Then I reconnected the battery, and turned it on to test it. played with the settings for a few minutes, and holy hell!! i have 1260 Watts of Ear Drum Thumping Stereo! 6 Interior Speakers, 3 internal amps, 1 aftermarket amp, and 2 12" subs. It about blasted my ear drums, it was so loud, and the bass was deafening.

So one last feakin time I have to pull the shifter off, remove the boot, take off the trim and pull the stereo out again..and put the 2nd GLI on, but then it's all done, and I can finally enjoy my shit!!
