headlights hazy\scratched

I want to replace my headlights which I guess have been beaten down by the steamy Miami weather.

Are there any particular brand headlight replacements that will not get that hazy\scratch look to them or is that part of the regular wear and tear. Or are those just the Ford OEM headlights that have this problem.

I've seen some regular smoked headlights replacement on ebay for 100 bucks but wonder if they would be the same or better craftmanship than OEM.

Any thoughts?

thanks!

just get OEM headlights... 2001 and up versions...they look better than the previous years. a lot of ppl are having issues with aftermarket lights leaking in water and fogging up.

I just got a pair off e-bay for under a $100 bucks. Not as good as OEM ! but the clear headlights look great! I just know they won't last long!

I getting ready to replace the healights in my car too. I have an idea but I dont know if it will work or not though. I want to take my new headlights and one of those new "clear bra" things cut it down to size and slap it to the lights instead of the hood. I THINK it may work!

we had a lil discussion about the leaking thing under the thread for AM on here. they said to coat it up good in some type of sealant. also there was sumthin' about putting them in the oven to heat up the glue, pressing the light together and sealing it that way. i'll try to find the thread...

also if u go to the lights section at AM, there's a couple how-to's as to how to fix them.

@v6'stang, after reading that post and other owners having problems with aftermarket headlights I think I will dish out for the OEM ones like zigzagg mentioned. I dont have the time or patience to be taking headlights off/on to drain or glue or seal...heck no.

Thanks for shedding some light on this guys,
