getting engine noise through tweeters
 

I'm picking up some engine noise in my tweeters. Once the car is turned on they starting buzzing and as the rpms increase you can hear a high pitched sound. I have a set of components in the front and 6x8s in the rear with a 4 channel amp running power to them. The RCA cables are running on one side of the car and the power and turn on cables are running on the other side. What would be casuing this? The buzzing gets louder if the gain is turned up as well.

EMI but where it's coming from I can't begin to speculate. Have you made sure the amp is getting clean power and there's no rubbing on the wires? Did you encase the wires in corrugated plastic shielding? If not they're liable to rub on the chassis and abrade. I've had that problem a couple times with my stuff.

I didn't put any shielding on the wires. I just can't figure out why just the tweeters would be buzzing since they are just connected to the crossovers. Those wires wouldn't be rubbing on the chassis at all.

You have a ground loop. Could be from a bad ground, good be signals from other wiring. Make sure your 12v power wire is ran seperate (other side of the car) from RCAs and remote wire. Could also be from a bad ground. Id remove the ground from your amp, and sand down the area so there is no paint on contact. If you do that and it still does it, you could goto radioshack and get a ground loop isolator and hook it inline to the ground on your deck. They are about 10 bucks.

Alright I'll give those a shot. So the remote wire can be ran alongside the RCAs? I'll try this out tonight and let you guys know tomorrow. Thanks.
