Paint restoral products, any recs?

So, i have some time off now that the kid is around and was planning on doing some stuff i had been meaning to do, like install the strut tower brace that has sat in my garage for 10 months, replace the tail lights that got ****ed up from AM's spray on tint with some new tail lights wityh the autobadges 50% smoked vinyls, and do an overall car cleaning and complete detailing with claybar, swirl remover, ya know, the whole 10 yards.

Welp, the stripes are in shitty shape. My car origionally came with the crappy 40th ann stripes and i pulled them off and went with the silver lip to butt stripes.

the stripes on the roof of the car are looking almost oxidized, they have been on for about 2 years im guessing and are just about worn out.

So, i started to remove the stripes, i got the front of the hood done and i can see the wear in the paint between and around where the stripes were. its not THAT bad but it is noticeable at certain angles and i dont like it.

Im wondering if there is anything to help reduce this effect short of a new paintjob?

I have a friend who does paint, who is willing to repair some damage from where i got a parking lot ding a while back and paint both my bumpers (both replaced) for about 500 bucks. For just the damage repair i was quoted 1,500 from a bodyshop. So i figure if i add another 2-300 he would probably go ahead spray the whole car and throw on another clearcoat, possibly even some painted stripes as well if i wanted... i think something similar to DSG would look good as stripes on a black stang.

but i have a kid, the damage is hardly noticeable, my girlfriend diddnt even notice the damage untill i pointed it out to her the other day and she sees the stang all the damn time.

So, maybe instead of getting the whole thing painted i was wondering if anyone reccommends any paint restoral products? or if maybe giving it a good detailing with a claybar, swirl remover, waxing and glaze would help.....?

Maybe XMT 360.

I know that Meguiars has a product called colorX, don't really have any experience with it, but you might give it a try. You should be able to pick that up at your local parts store.

What you plan to do should get rid of it.

I have the same problem. It looks like my car has ghost stripes. I would advise that only people that have cars garaged get the stick on stripes. I went .5 yards and just put on some ICE and cars shine is back on but ghost stripe it still there which is fine since Im getting the whole car painted. My stripes had mold on them plus were cracked, this happened when the shop that was doing the engine swap let it sit outside unwashed for extented period of time. I would try to fix it as you described but ICE is really good product and could be applied in the sun and on every surface of the car.
