Use the spray 'lubricant' and get the surface really wet and just run the clay over it. I was worried too, but it is really simple. http://paintcare-n-detailing.com/video/ Click on the picture next to: Detailing video from wash to wax. |

There is nothing to screw up its a bar of clay you run over your paint as you spray some kind of fluide (i just use soapy water) as a lube so the clay will slide over. As it slides it picks up crap off your pant. Very easy to do.
You always know how to inform in the simplist ways LOL |
Use a lot of lube and very little pressure. If you use an aggressive clay, or not enough lube and a lot of pressure then you could get some marring. This is with Clay Magic (not my picture).
http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/1410/img2120ox6.jpg Wash the car first, rinse off, then use soap as lube and clay the car, rinse off as you complete each section so the soap doesnt dry on the paint. Then dry the car, then you're ready for polish. OR Wash the car first, dry it, then use the clay with the clay lube and clay the car. Then I like to rewash and dry. Then you're ready for polish. If your car is pretty well taken care of, then Id use a mild clay such as Pinnacle ultra poly clay. |

i just clayed my GT as well...
i used the meguires smooth surface clay kit... i first washed it, dried it, used spray detailer as lube(provided in kit) and began the claying, then i used step 1 of the deep crystal system: the paint cleaner (dont think it did anything), then i used deep crystal polish, then used NXT Tech Wax...my car may be silver but i can tell how much this helped the paint! And you all know me...i would have taken pictures but my parents took the camera on their trip and it has not stopped raining since like an hour after i finished the car up...well at least i have it in the garage and i have the six to drive in the rain! |
on my car i was pleased with the results but IMO it seemed like it made my black lighter, and i havn't got the deep black i want from it. but i also switched waxes.. when we get our camra back i will prep it some and take some pics, but i think it sill looks really good, but i want a deep, dark, shiney black.
