Opinions on front subs?
I found 2 brand new 8" MTX thunder 4500 subs in my parents shed 2 days ago. I bought them for my old cougar, but never used them and forgot I even had them. I want to put them in the mustang.
My setup right now is stock with TMA 5.25" 2-way components all the way around. In the near future I am adding a new CD player, 2 xtant amps, and 2 10" subs in the trunk. These subs I have are recommended for free air applications. I want to mount them under the dash free air on each side. I want to mount them high up where you cant see them and put grills over the subs. I want to run 100rms watts to each 8" speaker. Does this sound like it would work out well? Has anyone done anything like this before? I think it would sound amazing having bass coming from the front and the rear. Especially since those 8s can punch out some higher bass notes than the 10s. I really want to try this. I plan on running one Xtant 604X to the components and another 604X to the 10's in the trunk..... |
i think it would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much bass

just get to 12" rockford fosgate p3's or 2 L7's and a 1500 watt amp and you will be happy.

Sell 'em. You'll have so much bass that you'll have that shit turned down all the time. I've got 2 12" Type-R's and an Alpine V-Power amp and I can't even leave that bitch turned all the way up. You can put the little bit of money you get from the subs and buy some 4-way speakers.

I don't know a damned thing about mounting them in the front of your car.. what i do know though..is those MTX 8s can hit extremely hard for 8s.. i probably woudln't try it..considering you've already got a system flowing through your car.. outside it could sound like crap.. ect..
It could sound good inside, but when you're rollin past a group of people you don't want to be rattling so hard they can't hear anything else but clinking ;p It could be interesting..but I don't think I'd try it.. |
