Default Best Wax For Black Cars

We all know that black cars are the dirtiest. My 1998 Black Gt has gone throught many waxs and im trying to see which one will restore my paint the best and give it a long wash after wash shine. I hate black cars even though when they are clean they LOOK THE BEST!!!!! Ive tried Meguairs 3 stage and meguairs gold and they both come off easily after the first wash and only shine for a little while.!!! I LIVE IN SUNNY CALI PLEASE HELP

If you want something to last long then you need to use a sealer. You need to apply the sealer differently then you would a Carnauba wax. Use your polish/ swirl remover to get the swirl marks out. Then dont put on any kind of Carnauba wax/ glaze. After using the polishes, wash the car and apply the sealer. Let it settle for 24 hours then apply the Carnauba wax to give it that shine. Reapply the Carnauba wax every 2 months or so. The best Carnauba wax for black cars is Souveran. Other good brands are DP Max Wax, Natty's Blue, and Pinnacle Series II.

Klasse is a good product, make good sealers. DP also came out with a new sealer which has gotten good reviews. Then you also have Poorboys EX-P and Meguairs.

Might want to read some of this stuff...

Just an FYI - you can put on glazes before you put on your sealant. I just RMG (red moose maching glaze or wolfgang glaze) before putting on my Meguiars #21 sealant on my black focus and the results are awesome.

First keep in my your prep work will dictate the end result of the LSP (last step product AKA Wax) that you use. you need to evaluate your finish and see what level of swirls, scratches, micro marring etc you have. First step is to use a clay bar as that removes all the contaminants that are embedded in your paints surface. then you need to either use some form of a cleaner, compound or polish to remove or lessen the visual impact of your scratches, swirls, oxidation, surface imperfections etc. After using this abrasive type product you then need to use a polish of some kind to bring back the pop in the paint and also remove swirls and light imperfections (marring) left over from the previous step. Next its time for a glaze to add some depth to your black paint, now since you car appears to be a daily driver I would suggest using a sealant of some kind to help project it while it sits outside in the elements. LSP could be Clearkote carnuba moose, pinnacle souveran (paste carnuba), meguiars or nattys.

To answer your question regarding what is the best wax for black paint my personal opinion would be Pinnacle Souveran (about $70 for the little container) but this stuff does just amazing things to black paint. Below are some pictures of my car after using Pinnacle Souveran and the LSP and Menzerna Products as the other steps including claying the car. Hope this helps out.

You ARE NOT supposed to put glazes or waxes under a sealer. MOST glazes have Carnauba in them which causes bonding problems with the sealer. You should also rewash the car with regular car shampoo, or wipe it down with an alcohol mixture after using the polish/ before applying the sealer to get rid of any oils left over by the polishes. Then you need to let the sealer settle for ~24 hours before applying anything over it. After the 24 hours, you can apply your glaze and wax. Go ahead and ask Mike about it...

I just tried some of the Turtle wax ICE on my hood today and DAMN that is some cool stuff.I'm going to do the rest of the car tommorow and see how it goes.Very easy to apply and remove and left it smooth and reflective as hell.

Has anyone tried Nanowax. I'm not sure but after I used it I started noticing minute scratches on the hood. There aren't any scratches on the body. So I'm not sure if it was the wax or a cheap paint job to sell the car. I just bought it on 9/11/06. And by the way it's my first Mustang.

Never heard of it, the car was cleaned and washed right before applying it correct? Did you apply it indoors or out, what did you use to apply it, and what did you use to remove it?

Yeah it was wash real good before applying the wax. I used the sponge that was included in the package to put it on. I used the micro fiber that was included to remove it. It was applied outside in cool weather as per instructions. The car was also cooled off.

Todd03blown That is one hell of a shine. The car looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah I noticed that a few of the spots that I thought were scratches wiped off a couple of days later. I'm disabled so it's hard for me to rub off the polish as good as I want. I'm going to get a buffer for my cordlees drill.
