Black paint care.

Welp, ok. Dammit.
<sigh>

Closing on 2 years with the stang. I always keey her clean. I wash her every couple weeks in winter and twice a week in summer. I use several different waxes. I rotate waxes between the Turtlewax Black and Mguires Gold Class. i use a good buffer, and i pay attention to what im doing and i take my time.

well she just doesent shine up as much as she used to, and she doesent seem quite as black. I was at a pressure wash place and never use the brush, just the pressure sprayer and never get closer than 1.5ft away.

What do i need to do to get that wet black luster back into my car? have i been doing something wrong here? is it time for me to use a claybar?(never done that before) I have all of next week off work, i plan to spend some time working on her trying to get that off-the-lot blackness back. It has been about 4 weeks since i waxed her and the water rolls off in sheets, so i know its not the need of a wax job...

any recs? suggestions? tips? Last summer she was always so clean and shiney she damn near looked like a show car.

Yep.......Wash,clay,wash,polish,and then wax!!

Use a good detail spray so you don't have to wash as much and try and wash by hand and not at a pressure wash!!

First wash use dawn and strip all the old wax off.Some people will say not too but for removing the old wax buildup it works great.That is the ONLY time to ever use Dawn on your car though!!

This is what you should do. Pick a fender and hit is with some dish soap. Wash it really good. Then, use either Maguires setp 1, followed by step 2, and finally top with wax (step 3). The black will pop! Try a small section and then decide if you want to do the whole car.

Oh yes and try to dry it off after each washing.Car washes don't get the film all the way off!!
