97' V6 Passenger Window?

Ok so i have been living with with my passenger side window not being able to go down for a while now. Now that its summer im wanting to fix it. When i hit the button to make the window go down sometimes it will and sometimes it wont. Meaning that if it goes down it might not come up so i never take the risk. Also my door locks when i hit the switch they make a grinding sound and u have to hit them rapidly maybe 10 times to get both doors to lock so i have just been manuely locking them.

My question is does this sound like a fuse problem? Is my window regulator motor bad? Could there be bad lines running to locks and window buttons?

I took the inner door panel out just to look and i really dont see anything oviously wrong but then again i havnt tried to fix this before.

Any help would be great:helpsmili :helpsmili

and i wasnt sure where to post this so im putting it in the V6 forum too.

Sure sounds like it's the window motor to me. I've replaced plenty of those to know when they're going bad. As for the door locks, I couldn't tell you.

As far as the windows go.

It sounds like your motor is going/gone bad, the lucky thing is that they're not too terribly expensive to replace and honestly aftermarket motors are much better than the stock.

The easiest way to tell is if you take the door pannel off and knock on the motor with a hammer (like you would a starter) if it works then the motor is bad. If it was a short then it would usually shut off your radio, or interior lights (they're routed through the same wiring.)

This is where I got my Motors.

One thing that I have to warn you about is that alot of the time with replacing the motors, you'll most likely have to make some adjustments, because the motor will either push the window up too far or not enough (pain in the @ss.) :bash:

As far as the locks go, Im really not sure, if they're making noise, then it's possible (likely) that the motor/actuators are going bad you can find these on eBay, or in a junk yard cheap.

Hope this helps... :beerchug:

My lock on the passenger side does the exact same thing. Some days it works others i have to press the button about 10 times. And then sometimes i have to unlock it manually.
