Why N2O?
 

Ok....dumb question:

This is something I've been wondering: Nitrous Oxide(N2O) increases power because of the oxygen it adds, so you can burn more fuel. Also, the cooling effect probably helps too....but why the gas n2o?....why not just add oxygen? Wondering why engineers/scientists chose this and not pure oxygen or another gas with oxygen? Maybe its safer or cheaper?????
