94 Gt Supercharger ?'s

I have a 94 Gt and am hoping to supercharge it for this summer. the supercharger i am looking at is a 1994-1995 Mustang GT/Cobra 5.0L V-2 SQ S-Trim Standard System from Vortech. My car only has 49 thousand miles. What do i have to do to prep it for this if anything...

Your gonna need different plugs and depending on what you do you will need a fuel pump, injectors, possibly maf, and a tune. But that is if you do not use the FMU that the standard kits come with. They are very rich and leave a lot of power on the table and I would never use them personally. I would rather get a basic tuner kit and get my own fuel upgrades, and then have the car tuned.

Sheets8 01-19-2009 03:52 PM

is ita problem to run the FMU that comes with the kit? im kinda looking for more reliability. its gonna be running at 8lbs of boost

spike_africa 01-19-2009 05:01 PM

If you want reliability then all the more reason to get the fuel upgrades and get the car tuned. Then the air/fuel ratio will be correct unlike the FMU which just makes the car run very rich. So the car will run better, make more power, and get better mpg. However it will cost more then just tossing that FMU on the car.

How much do you think it would cost me and what kind would you recomend

spike_africa 01-19-2009 06:05 PM

Like what kind of injectors and fuel pump and spark plugs?

Sheets8 01-19-2009 07:13 PM

yeah all three please... sorry to be bothering you with all these questions

BikerSk8rKid 01-19-2009 07:24 PM

How much is that going to cost you? I have a 95 GT, but with 90k miles on it.
MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor right?
FMU - What is that?

Sheets8 01-20-2009 05:17 AM

MAF is definately mass air flow sensor

FMU- Fuel Management Unit

That's what this place is for, asking question and learning new stuff.

A 255lph in tank pump like a walbro or the like would be a good fuel pump upgrade. For injectors 42# ones (the green top injectors) would feed the motor. And as for plugs, can't beat NGK TR6's for most applications.

Here is a summitracing brand pump, looks just like the BBK setup and more then likely is made by the same company yet is cheaper.

thank you very much... i was expecting the fuel pump to be more expensive than that.... thats always a good thing. Will that fuel pump be compatible with the vortech supercharger?

spike_africa 01-20-2009 07:31 AM

You can use any pump you like it has nothing to do with the supercharger. Only thing that matters is that its enough to support the amount of fuel the car needs, and that will for sure cover that for you. They have a 190lph pump too thats cheaper, but for an extra I think $12 I would get the 255lph and never worry about having enough fuel again, unless you do some wild mods to the car.

after the supercharger that is pretty much it for me... maybe some parts for looks. i have another question though... besides the supercharger i was wondering about tuners... since my car is a 94 it doesnt have the OBD2 computer system so i cant get a tuner for my car right?

spike_africa 01-20-2009 03:18 PM

You can tune 94+ cars I'm positive on that one. Where are you located at? I might be able to send you to a good tuner or at least tell you about one.

You also need to get some pics up :)

Sheets8 01-20-2009 04:38 PM

Im located in Illinois... Im working on the pics right now. i have another question though... when you say #30 injectors does that mean 30 pound injectors?o

spike_africa 01-21-2009 06:15 AM

42# means 42 pound injectors. Thats how much they flow.

You can use this to find a SCT tuner near where you live. http://www.sctflash.com/dlocator.php

Sheets8 01-21-2009 06:58 AM

would those places be a good place to get my car tuned after the supercharger install?

spike_africa 01-24-2009 01:38 PM

I don't know the area code for where you live so I can't so for sure if any of them are good. What shops came up?

94-95 GT's had OBD1, while 94-95 V6's had OBD2. then in 96 both models had OBD2
