Belt Dust

I am finding belt dust under my hood. Looks like the one side of my belt is rubbing on a pulley. I checked all the pulleys and they seem fine except for the large pulley on the bottem. Looks like there is a no gap between the belt and the pulley on the back side.

Anyone know a quick fix? How concerned should I be? The belt seems to be in great shape accept for some slight wear on the back-side edge.

dude belt dust happens. there isnt a way around it. you can try a RR pulley. ususally my valve cover and altenator get some dust on them and my timing cover between the water pump and alt. has dust on it all the time. when i had my mini race bypass welded on my car at kauffmans i shredded 3 ribs on my way up there racing some chicks in a SS maro. they checked my alignment on the pulleys and everything was good. my car just had a nasty hick up from me letting off the throttle at 6k rpms i guess that shock loaded the motor.

oh yeah did i mention that i destroy belts. cant seem to keep one on the car for more then a few thousand miles, if it isnt a detonation problem then its a pulley going bad.

That's a nice find, but seems like you would need this for higher hp applications.....not my pathetic 380 rwhp car.

those would be more useful for high boost applications.

I had that problem too! its probably mis-aligned just abit? I went thru 2 belts @ almost $50.00 a pop! Mine at first would actually jump of the pulley, I finally took it in had the Vortech shimmed at the blower bracket (which was causing it) and got rid of that problem.
