big question on nos

i hav a nos kit 125 shot and i want tom run it but im afraid im gonna blow up my car wat can i do to the engine to prevent that or from anything breaking shoud i buy better piston rings forged better rockers better pistons or vavles

if you put NOS to the motor, eventually something will break... however a forged bottom end will aid in that not breaking. What car do you have (motor/yr)

Well that is not really true. A proper nitrous setup with proper tunning and safety equipment is no more dangerous than a blower or turbo.

I guess you could say even stock something will eventually break.

Fore saftey run a Fuel pressure safety switch, this shuts off the nitrous system when fuel is pressure is to low.

Also a Window switch is a must on stick shift cars. This will only let the car spray between set rpms levels i.e. above 3k and like 3-400 before were ever you rev limiter is set to.

If you really wanna be a careful get a SVT focas fuel pump, and for sur ei would change the spark plugs out ot a copper plug that is 1 step colder, maybe 2 with that 125shot. I would use NGK TR6's they are cheap and the part number is 4177.

Enjoy the spray.

Youll also want a WOT switch and a good tune before you spray. Im going in for my tune this Friday.

yeah i forgot the WOT switch. but in my opinion a tune isnt as much needed as a set of plugs and fuel pressure saftey switch.

I guess we all have our own opinions, but I sure as hell wouldnt run nitrous, or any other power adder, without any of those things. Your only asking for trouble if you do.

Most people say that, but I think that its has alot to do with the driver! I have mines set on a button! I don't have a window switch either, but i'll be intalling one in the next week or two just to be safe! People said my car wouldn't last more than six months on the button, and I've had it on for over a yr and a half with no problems!

"Rong" a tune is the number one thing you need along with the other stuff said above ! You can have all the safty stuff you want if the tune isen't right and your lean it WILL blow !!

This really pertains more with running a wet kit or a larger shot than the 125. I have used and installed NOS dry kits spraying the 125 shot on 5 99+ cars and when run on a wideband all had safe a/f with the factory tune. we did however put a tune in the car to maximize the gains of using the nitrous to get the most power. This idea comes from the lean spike that is associated with mostly wet kits when the extra fuel is pulled from the rails, it DOES happen with the dry kits but not as severe as with the wet kits.

ok...

if your running the stokc jetting you will have no problems. they are jetted to run very rich. but this is just wha ti do you dont have to.

Why spend that much on a power adder and not get the maximum potential out of it? I just dont understand why people use it without the safety stuff and no tune, then worry about blowing their **** up, or wonder why their engine blew.

I think it depends on the kit too and the amount of juice you are adding. 50 shot is one thing, 125 is another. An NX wet is one thing, a Venom dry is another.

Also, tunes are no guarentee either. Plenty of blown nitrous cars with a great tune. When it comes to the spray, it's all about risk minimization. Any amount of safety you can afford, may help a bunch in the long run.
