2006 Roush stage 3 supercharger questions
i have a 2006 Roush stage 3 with the roush supercharger. i would like to get a bit more power from it.
does anybody know who makes the superchargers for Roush? it puts out 5lbs boost, if i changed the pulley could i get maybe 8lbs boost? im a real noob to the supercharger stuff if anybody could offer any advice, thanks |
You can swap the pulley on the blower to a smaller size and that will speed it up whihc will up the boost. A retune will be needed for this change.

yep smaller pulley and a tune will get you more power
lets see some pics of that baby! including the engine |

i thought it would look funny, and all i wanted was all black with yellow stitching, but Roush told me they are not a custom shop!?? wtf?
but after seeing them in person 3 months later i got over it. you don't notice it while driving anyway. |
Your car is pure sex on wheels.

What you may want to look into Hetfeild... is what changing the pulley will do to the system as it was tuned by Roush Performance. On the 99-04 stage 3's I thought there was once a problem in chaning too much (not including a pully swap though) from the 'factory' settings, or basically what Roush put their settings at...
I would hit up the forums at: www.fnsweet.com ... It is a Roush Owner's and what not forum and I am sure there is someone with the answer over there as to what can and cannot be changed on Roush cars equipped with superchargers. |
A simple pulley and tune wont hurt the car, they run low amounts of psi too keep it daily drive safe for even the crappest types of gasoline. You all ready have exhuast etc... from roush so you should be happy with just upping the boost to 9psi and getting the computer retuned. Thats what i would do if i was you.

I second Spike!
Also, keep in mind that because of what this car is, you really should want to keep it has close to the original as possible. As such, I would leave the exhaust alone etc.... A pully change is easy and a tune is pretty cheap. You really should be talking to a tuner familiar with this setup, Roush directly, or other Stage 3 owners. I think you will find that you could easily run this car up to 8 - 10 psi with no worries. A nice tune and you should be adding maybe 80 hp. How's that sound? BTW, I was at CJ Pony's this weekend and met a guy who parked next to me (there were 400 stangs there) and he had the same car. Actually, his was a Stage 2 but bought the blower from Roush and had it added. If I am not misstaken, he told me he bought a smaller pulley directly from Roush and with a mail order tune from them too. Car was expected to be at 480 rwhp. You may want to contact Roush and see wht you can dig up. BTW, those are my favorite Mustangs! |
