87 Octane Vs 100 shot LMAO!

Ok now I already know I will get flamed and make myself look like an idiot.........but I thought that this would be an interesting thread.:surrender

Ok I had been having problems with the charging system while the n20 is on. I unhooked the system two days ago because I didnt even want to turn the system back on until I fixed the problem. That day I filled the tank with 87 octane because i wasnt planning on spraying it for a few days...... I like to run 87 when im not spraying cause the car runs great with it and its whats recommended by ford. The real reason is because its much cheaper.....:shifty:

Today, I had some extra time so I figured Id go fix the charging problem I was having. I fixed all the wiring and I was excited that I finally had power to everything the right way but I didnt know if it would spray or not......

In all my anxiety to find out if it was working, I jumped in the car and armed everything and opened the bottle. The bottle was just sitting on 800psi but it usually pulls pretty good even at that pressure. So I went down the street and SPRAYED all through 2nd gear! Then immediately after I had sprayed it I remembered that the tank was half full of 87 octane! So I pulled right over to a parking lot and checked the plugs. MAn there was NO WHITE! The plug didnt even look like it was hot at all. I saw no pepper and no mettalic flakes on the porcelain. Im not AT ALL saying that it is OK to run 87 octane on spray. :nono: I Just thought that it would be interesting information. Im sure noone has experimented with 87 on a 100 shot before! LOL I hope not! The plugs didnt look as dark as they are with the 93 but it didnt really look like there was much problem.

The car didnt seem to pull quite as hard as it does with the 93 though. Thats a BAD sign. Plus I have heard that a car will take some serious detonation for a short period of time. Im sure that if I had ran it through 3rd gear then I would expect something bad to happen. Who knows I didnt even hear any detonation.......But the car is FINE. I got seriously lucky. Im sure that if I had a lean mixture then it would have ben TOAST!

OK Flame On!:pepper:

We all make dumb misstakes...

Running too low of octane does not cause white plugs. Running too lean cause the plugs to be white. Low octane causes detonation or pinging. This can cause serious engine failure while on the bottle.

he is a smart man, the octane doenst change your a/f just controls engine detonation by burning at slower rates (higher octane) or faster rates (lower octane gas). but yeah your right you are lucky, hell i had a tank of 1/4 87 and 3/4 93 and mine still detonated on the 125shot i waited till it was empty again till i sprayed again.
