Colorado laws on nitrous? anyone?

Hey folks, this is really geared towards Colorado drivers, but anyone is welcome to answer.

Does anyone know colorado's stance on nitrous systems? Are they illegal to have installed? do we have to keep the bottle closed? lines disconnected? Or are nitrous systems totally street legal here?

Well, been diggin around and i think my question has been answered.

OK, for Nitrous Oxide in your car. You can have it installed, but you can't have the bottle hooked up to the system while driving your car on the street.

the same law refers to having a pressurized bottle of ANYTHING in your car while driving. Not necessarily nitrous but any pressured bottles are not allowed in the car unless properly secured and are equipped with the proper valve covers/protectors

Bottom line is the officers are using that law to find nitrous illegal to have hooked up in your car. If someone does the research and finds a valve cover that can go on nitrous bottles, then the nitrous in a vehicle would be within the confines of the law if one of those valve covers were installed on the bottle..

Anyone know what a valve cover is??? <grin>

I've known many guys here in CO with NOS in their car all the time. The bottle is usually running pretty low most of the time :) but they are connected.
I've never heard of them getting ticketed for the bottle.

I ran nitrous in my last car for almost 2 years.I had a car that was in no way street legal, but never got hassled.Main thing is not to get stupid and draw unnecessary attention to yourself.

the kits come with different nozzles that allow you to choose what shot you want if im not mistaken(at least, i would hope that all you have to change is a nozzle)

Ghostalker 03-25-2006 01:32 PM

Yes the kits usually come with interchangeable nozzles...
I am the kind of messed up ****er that wouldnt do Nitrous unless i did the Holley NOS system called the NOSzle Direct Port EFI Nitrous System

that is a detailed kit that looks really nice....i would also go with an NX kit since they rate their kits at the rear wheels...

That kit has blown more motors then i dont even know what. IT has nasty lean problems because it doesnt distrubte the nitrous evenly into all the cyclinders. I would highly highly recomend staying away from that kit till they fix the bugs, they are making a updated version so i have read else where.
