New tint laws in Florida..?

Have any of you heard of a new legislation passed about window tint laws in Florida? My friend was going around to get quotes on tint but both shops he went to (one of them was where I got mine tinted) said that they no longer go below the FL legal limit because a law was passed that made illegal window tint a moving violation, with a fine of $49 per window + 2 points on your license. He offered to pay in cash but they still said no, and that cops are starting to pull people over just for their tint.

Anyone hearing something like that? I know the city cops around here are pretty lax on all vehicle laws, but in Gulf Breeze (gotta go through there to get to the beach) they will stop you for anything..I drive with my windows down most of the time but you never know. 2 points on your license for window tint is fucking ridiculous.

Great.... I haven't heard of it but I know our beach cops will pull you over for dark tint on the beach if they are bored. The town cops could care less. Damn, sucks.

Wow haven't heard of that bullshit. All the shops are saying this? It's fucking Florida, we need dark tint.

:tongueout:

Just looked it up and looks like your limits are 28/15/15. That's not bad IMO anything under 15 is unnecessary.

Sweet I'm good then cause I rock 15% all around minus the windsheild of course.

mustangV6_04 05-24-2009 03:30 PM

10 percent all around for me

whitestang04 05-24-2009 03:33 PM

Wow I hate tint laws. I think mine is legal though.

JoeyMD 05-25-2009 08:24 PM

will this affect folks driving from out of state?

Badfish 05-25-2009 08:32 PM

damn. I have 5% all the way around and i'm moving out there

I still haven't heard of this law. I don't think it's real. I think your friend is bullshitting you.

15% is illegal on the front two windows.

Googled and found no new announcement about the Florida tint law. Maybe just new charges on illegal tints?

But I'm looking for tints underway so gonna ask around and find out if the op's msg from his service is true or not.

Yup, 15% on driver/front passenger side is illegal but allows 30% on that and front. Wish it goes 15% though but back parts you can do 15%. It's jus exact word from a Ford dealer whom I asked two weeks ago and will see him once more this Monday.

28% on the two front windows is as dark as you can go. 15% on the rear passenger windows and the back window. You can't tinit the windsheild Per FSS 316.2956

my Sorce FSS
316.2953 Side windows; restrictions on sunscreening material

Just to let you guys know I have been with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office for three years now. So needless to say, I know the tinit law. As for a new tinit law, I haven't heard of anything.

im 99.9% it affects people out of state
i was in GA w a car from FL and i received a tint ticket
i could be wrong though
and thats why they pulled me over bc of tint
im in ga now and a lot of my friends have been stopped STRICTLY for tint black, blue, or white if u catch my drift

jjtgiants 06-02-2009 04:42 PM

I know this will shock you, but we have tint laws in Cali as well. Ha ha if I remember right the law came about because of law enforcement. It's dangerous for cops when they walk up to a car with blacked out windows. Argue all you want, but if I was a cop I'm get pretty damn worried about pulling a car over that had blacked out windows and I couldn't see if the dude had a gun pointed at my face

garrett01001 06-09-2009 08:58 AM

in texas it's 35%vlt on side, no limits on back and NO TINT below 3-5" on front windshield

I just had mine done at the car dealership and they did 35% side and 20% back-windshield.. it looks good but it's not nearly dark enough in my opinion, but I'm legal.. I don't like getting pulled over..
